Im pretty sure noctis is in some sort of trance while he sleeps since him sleeping and dreaming has been a recurring thing in this game. also i think he is forced to rest alot because ignis says hes just doing just job when prompto mentions him sleeping. he needs the most rest he can get because he is the only heir to a throne that saps his vitality. so he has to make sure he gets enough rest and health while he can.

But I think you're right regardless - Ignis didn't say it to be a jerk, he said it because Prompto worked for many years to achieve that body he has and Ignis doesn't want him to destroy the result over masses of food being available.

@@shyanmarie4405 Actually, I don't think Ignis knew of his weight when he was younger. I think Ignis' remark was just cautionary overall and Prompto took it harder because he knows where he came from. I think tree closest Prompto ever gets to mentioning his past self, aside from his DLC, is with Noctis on the roof of that hotel. They never outright mention his weight, but Noctis does say he would've preferred for Prompto to just speak with him, no matter what he looked like. Actually, in thinking about the DLC, I think Prompto actively worked hard not to tell them about his weight. He mentions something about being afraid of losing his friends and so he strove hard to do everything he could to keep Noctis, Ignis and Gladio by his side. He mentions this in a flashback in the DLC as he has a sort of dream sequence with his younger self, I think.

I like how Prompto progressively became more sociable and happier as he lost weight in a healthy way. Prompto lost weight; not in order for Noctis to accept him as a friend, but to become someone with the confidence to stand beside the Prince. There's no "fat-shaming" happening here that forces Prompto to change his identity per-se; exercising, eating healthy and losing weight was merely a mechanism to break away from his shell. And now he's Noctis' beacon of light; cheerful and outgoing .

The whole point of this episode was to show and explain Prompto's backstory. He use to be a Chubby kid but he was determined to change and look different so he could feel good and better about himself. This episode teaches you about self-awareness and self esteem and that if you work hard in life you can achieve happiness. Shoutouts to Square-Enix for this brilliant episode. This should be an inspiration to others out there who dealt with this issue when they were younger and grew up to be the person they wanted to be.

Prompto actually did somethi g smart while exercising; he managed to wean himself off of his previous diet. It may seem small, but he first cut out the excess sugar, starch, and sodium (soda and fries) then he graduated to eating a full serving of vegetables and then rewarding himself with a burger afterwards. It may seem insignifigant but it's better to slowly transition your dietary intake as you exercise rather than go cold turkey cause believe me it makes you feel terrible to just eat healthy when your main diet was fast food the previous day.

after a month you become acclimated tho. and by that point, you don’t even order the excess crap because you know it will make you feel like crap, puts a limit on your calorie intake for the day, and also means you have to work a little harder for a day or two just to keep on schedule. I use to eat a full meal and an extra side or small entree. . . now adding sides makes me full to the point I want to throw up because my body is no longer use to eating all those calories and garbage at once. sugar is the hardest to cut, though, only because it’s in almost everything nowadays, even some bottled water lol.

The problem I usually refer to is when people who want to lose weight but arent in any major risk of diabetes or heart failure. For most people going cold turkey won't just make them sick, it will make it that much harder to maintain a diet if they give up the first time round. Your body has a weird relationship with dopamine and depriving your body of so much of what it got as stimulus will actually make you physically ill. The closest you could get to this is withdrawals. Most extreme diets right after eating unhealthy for an extended period of time don't result into vomiting, shivers, and craving that make you feel like you're stomach is splitting open. Just as a word of advice for those who struggled with or plan on changing their dietary intake. It's just a way to make things easier.

A lot of people are saying things like "Why did he lose weight before being friends". As someone who was heavily overweight as a kid, then thinned up, only to get even more overweight again after high school, I can say that sometimes I DO feel like I would be a better friend when meeting new people if I'd lose weight first. Socially, physically, and emotionally I feel like I would just be all around better as a person and that people ARE more accepting of people who aren't overweight. Now translate this into Promto's universe and he's trying to be friends with the prince who is not only a strong public figure, but who is physically fit and draws the eyes of every girl who sees him. Stepping into his world, as an overweight kid, even IF Noctis DID accept him as a friend, it would burden him more than if Promto was in shape and wasn't weighed down by his weight. It makes a lot of sense to me, so thought I might try to relay a little of how I interpreted it to those who may be confused :)

Savage Sangwoo the advice I would give you is don’t exercise to lose weight, exercise because you like a sport and enjoy it, it helped me lose weight a lot faster and I met lots of friends through sports clubs, who were accepting me even if I didn’t have the best body. Find a sport you enjoy, try several, for me it’s fencing and weightlifting, but for you it could be swimming or playing football/soccer. Also get a good coach with a licence who can give you tips on how to improve your overall condition. Best of luck!

I totally agreed. Noctis doesn't seem to be the shallow type that judges someone base on weight, hence he holds out his hand. In this case, Prompto feels unworthy of being a prince's friend the way he is and takes the initiative and have the determination to change himself. I think it's heartwarming =).

I agree with what you said, and it sort of irritates me when people compare Noctis to Sasuke. Their look is (slightly) similar but they are very different characters. Noctis is a caring person who clearly wanted to be Prompto's friend here, and we see how people just swoon and dote over him. He isn't be stand-offish because he's a Sasuke clone, its because he's a freaking prince and has realized those people don't really care about who he is as a person and are pretty much just fake.

Decadent Gamer I like Noctis a lot. I remember when it was FF Versus and it was supposed to be on PS3. When I first saw him I was like "oh god here we go, another dark, super serious, overly stoic character".. He is then later described as being very very shy, but tries to act "cool", in order to hide his shyness... So he is somewhat a dork. He also seems very caring, and down to earth, and wanting friends, true friends, not people surrounding him who want to be around him because of his title. This is really shown with his behavior towards fat Prompto, when Prompto thinks he wants the camera instead of his hand. He also seems somewhat sheltered, but interested in learning, and not being a punk about it lol. I really like all of the characters so far, and I love how they are treating this game, and why. This is so far becoming another favorite of mine in the series right up there with IV, *VI*, VII, X, and XII. Plus Yoko Shimomura doing the music? Oh my Jesus lol. So perfect for the look of this FF world.

It's just that after Cloud got overblown with popularity with his "I'm too cool for this" aura followed by other characters like Squall and Lightning and other various characters from other series, it really killed that appeal for me if that makes sense? But yes, he doesn't seem all bad since he didn't care if Prompto was fat or not so that does count for something. Ugh... I really didn't like XII lol It had such a boring atmosphere and the characters didn't interest me at all but this is just my own opinion of course.

Decadent Gamer Oh yes it makes a lot of sense. I don't like those type of characters anymore myself. When Cloud first came out, I thought he was cool. It somewhat kinda felt a bit of the same with Squall, then we see it again with Lightning.. Its been done to death now, I don't care to see that type of character anymore. XII I liked because, I was kinda obsessed with XI at the time, and XII pulled me away from it lol. I also liked the music, and characters, Basch being my favorite, and the manga that came out before the game, most of all it was set in the world of Ivalice (which I wish XIV's world was set in). I think the only character, I can tolerate the "I'm too cool for school" attitude from, is Cor Leonis. He seems so far, he is like that. If so it works because of his age, and his past and he uses a samurai sword so that's even more badass. He reminds me of some mean Yakuza boss.

Also can we give props to the random jogger who saw someone trying to actively make an improvement in their life and chose to say "keep it up".
