I legit thought the show was about emotions, like losing a lost one or not being the hero you wanted to be, missed opportunity

5:03 wooaahhh why did they bring the soloist down an octave? :(
@jonz76986 жыл бұрын
No, it has always been like that. At least it was the same during BOA SA

Detective Burning they brought it down, the soloist was having trouble playing in front of such a huge crowd I’m assuming

That's understandable

Just found why, if you look up flower mound band 2017 and look for video in a dome. He cracks when he re-enters almost every time

They brought it down an octave because it sounded better on the horn. I think earlier in the season he had a different horn, and when he got the new one it sounded different.

Ok I've been asking around for a while now. For those who watched the full show, what on earth is the pre-show music with the oboe soli???? I can't figure it out and its amazing I want to hear the original piece

Uh.. These shows are specifically written for the Highschool. The music is written for them.

I was not there, so I'm not the best judge. But honestly, in all the videos I've seen I can't see why this is 5th place. I thought that they had a fuller sound than Carmel (not to take anything away from other programs) and more challenging musically as well. Yes, this is also a visual activity; but they were good there as well.

I'm from San Antonio, they have won BOA SA 2 years in a row. This year they weren't as clean as they have been the other years. I think they got 5th place just because it wasn't clean

I’m from flower mound we agree that the reason we didn’t score higher is due to the lack of dynamic contrast. We were just loud

Say what you will about them, I’m from a very close high school to Flo mo and they’re director is lovely. He cares so much and he inspires his students to achieve musical success. That’s what all directors ought to do. Blessed with money or not you cannot buy the passion and skill that’s inspired in these wonderful students. All of the experiences I’ve had with Flower Mound students have been positive, and they show was lovely.

Chris J. Though there is a difference in props, uniforms, instrument quality and many other aspects of the band which money does very well affect no matter the skill. I mean Christ these kids get new uniforms each year and it portrays the show so much better than a normal uniform that is worn for many many years and some schools still have handy down unis which does affect the shows effect. Also through the use of instructors brought in kids this age can get substantially better but that’s more money. I bet this band has about a 300,000$ price tag for every season. These kids are well motivated yes and don’t let my argument saying that cost does affect the show take away from the fact that these kids can get the job done. Though when you’re invested in your work ethic typically goes up with it. If your boss gives you a new computer you’re likely gonna work harder with it and get more done because he cares for you enough to get you to your full potential.
