Looks great, a lot of hard work but in the end it's going to be awesome!!!!!

Looks good as is. You don't want it too stiff up front. As you say, you can add a leaf later after road testing it.
@gingerauto4 жыл бұрын
It was so stiff before. The ride will be a lot better now that we softened it up. Won’t know if it’s to soft until we drive it.

i would have had a hard time cutting into that front axle. i have a 65 load star and i think i will go to just the main 2 main leafs and then run air bags between the axle and the frame.
@gingerauto4 жыл бұрын
Not a bad idea with the air bag. I am not worried about notching our axle because of how thick it is above there we notched. I would be very surprised if it breaks. But we will see!

I see the struggle.. one man show here with a 68 Chevy c50.

Its never easy, but keep at it. When he said "lots of twists and turns" about pulling the axle I was thinking about how hard that is with my wrists and hand issues, even easy stuff hurts now. Guess that's why I'm leaving mine mostly stock and doing a mechanical restoration and adding a crazy flatbed. I think if I was in CA and had the gear, i would do similar to their project. Its not my thing and I'm a gas guy, but falling in love with diesels more every day.

What hubs did y’all use to interchange the original Dayton wheels? Please tell me I’m trying to change my date and wheels to Alcola but I do not know what hugs to use. I have a 73 load star. 1700

We did complete axle swap from an 04 f650

What steering box did u guys use..and did steering component fit right or did u have to make stuff work
@gingerauto4 жыл бұрын
I have a video of the power steering box install. Goes over everything

What did you use to notch the axle.. I'm torn between lowering or lifting it..
@gingerauto3 жыл бұрын
A hand held band saw. And a grinder to smooth it out.

What hubs did you run on front axle, I’m trying to build a 73 Loadstar myself, had drums on it, wanting to swap over to 8 lug disk
@gingerauto4 жыл бұрын
Our front and rear axles are off an 04 f650
@thekid3032 Жыл бұрын
Does anyone have the measurements of the axles or know what will directly swap, i'm trying to locate axle to swap my Loadstar to a true 10 lug setup. I know you guys went with f-650 axles i assume international 4700 and some other box truck axles would work any help would be great so i can call salvage yards.
@gingerauto Жыл бұрын
What we have found in our research, Is most trucks have the same frame width. Which means most axles will work if you have the matching mounting brackets for the axle.

@@gingerauto Thanks for the reply and info I greatly appreciate it! Been enjoying your guy's videos on the build!
@thekid3032 Жыл бұрын
I assume the reason for going with the 650 axles was avalibility and gear ratio?

I have noticed there is always a guy just sitting in the background. Is he like the shop manager or something? He seems important 🤣

What did you fab to have the axle sit square on top of leaf springs vice under?
@gingerauto3 жыл бұрын
We notched our axle a little. And then we welded plates on each side of the axle to keep it from moving. And the u bolts will keep it from moving as well.
@dougwheeler36062 жыл бұрын
I want to place my front axle on top of the leaf springs....I see you did.... did you have to modify the steering? I'm completely stock
@WARD5KUSTOMZ4 жыл бұрын
Looking slick! How are you able to keep the axle in place on the front? Im skeptical about that
@gingerauto4 жыл бұрын
We welded that plate to the axle and it has a hole in it. And then the hole slides over the leaf spring bolt so can’t move.
