I love your recommendations and I usually read all of them whether they are 5 stars for you or not! You always introduce me to new choices and I love that! Now I just added 4 new books to my TBR. As far as Sundial, I LOVED it and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but the end worked for me because I really cheered at the defeat of the character I hated the most!

I'm a sucker for haunted house books so I'll be checking out Fall of the House of Crain. Girl in the Corn sounds really interesting too. Most of the books I've read this year have been more Thriller than horror. I think my favorites so far this year are The Night Shift by Alex Finlay and 56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard. The Guest List by Lucy Foley was also excellent but I think I'm late to the party on that book

As always, it's a joy to hear what you've been reading and to get some more titles to add to my TBR! I had the same experience with Sundial... really wanted to love it because I live in the desert and am a sucker for desert-based horror, but I also found the ending pretty underwhelming. Still worth picking up for that gorgeous cover alone, though!

I've never understood how the Faerie were ever considered "cute" or "sweet". They're feral, dangerous, and untrustworthy, with moods that shift faster than the weather in Scotland.

Hey Rachel I just finished Sundial and I really liked it. I can agree it dragged a little following Rob through College and I didnt care much for the Arrowood inserts. I did really like how flawed/ unlikable the characters where and that you really didnt know who to trust. The ending was anticlimactic but overall I enjoyed this one. Heard about this one on your channel so thank you 😊

Oh, I really didn't like Sundial. I agree there were no "good" characters and I felt the ending wasn't a surprise at all. Ward is great at creating tension and dread, but I felt she piled it on way too much. I also felt that the husband was so completely despicable as to be unbelievable. I think one of the reasons Sundial failed for me was because I was so impressed by The Last House on Needless Street which deals with a lot of the same themes but is actually tragic rather than so sadistic.
