I think their meals are some of the tastiest available, and I’ve tried most on the market. I had the same issue with the bag and left a friendly review on their website. Ben, one of the owners, took the time to send this to me in response: -- Hey David, Thanks for leaving a review on our biscuits and gravy product. I just wanted to let you know why the large bag. What you see in our photos and what we normally use is the 12oz (this may have been the bag you are talking about I didn't go and look at when you ordered). The dimensions on that bag are 10.125 x 6.5 x 3.5. While we don't love these bags for their size we do love them for their impact on the planet. Our plan is to get custom sizes created however to do that we have to order at least 20,000 bags and as a small batch company we haven't been able to make that large of a purchase yet but we are working toward getting set up in a new space which will increase our capacity and we will be looking to make that leap to a custom bag, hopefully, this summer. Because of how covid affected manufacturers throughout the world Tek Pack Solutions did not have any of our "normal" sizes available. So we had to use their larger 1 pound bag (this is most likely what you got as it's more absurdly too big. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. However, our product doesn't fit into the smaller bag option (you mention the 9inch 1/2 lb bag in the review). We've tested with that smaller size and it doesn't work. Anyway, Tek Pack Solutions couldn't give us a timeline when they would have new bags available so we had to choose either the larger bag or going with a different option like a mylar bag. We choose the larger bag from Tek Pack Solutions Anyway just wanted to explain and make it clear it's got nothing to do with the sticker and we don't intend to keep it this way and never choose this as our ideal but under limited options the best available. Our ideal will be a much shorter bag, currently thinking something like 6 inches tall :) All the best! Ben --

Are you taking potassium supplements? Potassium bonds with the sodium and carries it out of your system.

No’ I’m not, but I will try that. I take a multi-vitamin which probably has some potassium in it and I eat a lot of potatoes though. Thanks.
@mikel95673 жыл бұрын
@@malekdarshin No it doesn't. Potassium and Sodium are both very similar chemically. Your body self regulates the potassium levels. This has nothing to do with sodium. On a cellular level, your cells are using a sodium-potassium pump to effect the exchange. Three sodium ions will be booted out of the cell and replaced by two potassium ones. This is a far more complex process than what can be explained here. But Potassium does not bind to sodium. If it did, it would throw off the entire cellular process which is necessary for life. Potassium Citrate is not used to treat blood pressure conditions and isn't normally prescribed to patients with blood pressure medications.

I just checked out the site and I have to say, everything looks amazing. I like the calorie and protein amounts in each meal. Good test! In particular because after a decent hike and expenditure of energy, when you are hungry, fairly bland food can feel like the best thing ever, but if you try the same product again later, when you aren't starving, you are disappointed. If you are impressed with the product during a casual lunch, it'll be even better after several miles of hard going : -)

In the Army I used to cut MRE entrees sideways to make the packs a bowl instead of a pouch. I cut most of the freeze dried packs in half before eating to make them more manageable. Then again I've never cared for Gandalf or long handle spoons.

Luke and Susan, I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's store in your area but they sell some incredible meals in plastic ziploc bags and cheap, too. I made some pork pot stickers yesterday, fried them in extra virgin olive oil, added some of my own spices and ate them with roasted halves of brussel sprouts. The pot stickers were $4.99 a bag as are many of the variety of meals. I know you have a portable refrigerator for overland camping. Today I found some incredible tea flavors I'm dying to try out.

I'm a prepper and have dehydrated meals in my pantry, mostly the 4Patriots 72 hour packages, a few Mountain House, Pantry and one other brand I cannot remember. They are all stacked in a large plastic bin. However, when I hike or overland camp I like to plan a menu and cook it from scratch. Cooking is an activity I enjoy instilled by my mother who was a phenomenal oriental cuisine cook. She also picked up some pretty awesome recipes when dad was stationed in South Carolina such as ham hocks and black eyed peas, fried chicken and others. I love watching You Tubers who add cooking to their bushcraft or overland camping videos. I write them down on 3X5 cards and have practiced several of them at home to get the spices right. Anyway, I went to the Pinnacle Foods site to order a couple of meals to try them out and they are presently out of stock. I'm on an email list when the stock is replenished.

Peak Refuel has some meals that I really like a lot. The beef pasta marinara is probably my favorite
@azclaimjumper3 жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. That meal you referred to is my favorite; less sodium & a lot more grams of Protein & carbohydrate calories than the PInnacle Foods meal reviewed today. I've found I have to open the Peak Refule package at home, weight out 2 equal portions, put the portions into ziplock baggies & when I'm ready to eat the 1/2 portions fill me. I pour the portions of freeze dried food into a cup of boiling water. Once I've added the meal to the cup of boiling water I insert the 750ml Titanium cup into my own home-made Koozie. After the 10 minutes to re-hydrate I have a meal that is still almost TOO HOT to eat. I use a small fold- spork. No need for a long handled one.

Dehydrated meals are so much cheaper than freeze-dried ones, which aren't sustainable and require much more energy to cool and dehydrate. Combine that with cold soaking of beans, grains, and dried vegeables and you can eat so much better at just a fraction of the price. After all, this food is made specifically for people going into the wild/back country, hence the price. Seems like if we can put a helicopter on Mars, we could come up with something. Yeah, I get it, carry out your trash...but I see this all over in the bush. As far as the food goes, no thanks, can't handle the sodium content or preservatives.
