Just that 3M double side tape will hold the camera by its self. You are taking it off when traveling. Great video

We have the Arlo pro and it works the same way. It also sends an alert to my phone when motion is detected.

Thank you for the information and taking the time to post it. I appears to me to be impractical. No WiFi, no cell, NO-GO. Easy to steal, easy to blind with a flashlight, easy to pull off the sidewall or where you mount it, no recording capability and holes in your sidewalls? I don't see how this would provide any peace of mind. Sadly, bad people are out there. Material stuff that disappears is not good but not the end of the world. On the other hand, I have the BEST security system in my RV and I'm trained and willing to use it....I think you catch my drift.

If you mount it higher it's more difficult to steal and you get a video of the individual that took it. The camera can store video and Reolink has free cloud storage (limited to one camera). Your RV is full of holes in the walls. The important thing is sealing them.

So basically if you want to break in at night time without the camera being able to pickup who you are, just wear a really bright head lamp and stare straight at the camera.

That would be helpful for me. My friends and I will know right where to aim for someone breaking in, though I usually go for center-of-mass and not a headshot... but, whatever works. Smile and wait for the Flash. Welcome to Texas. :)

@@rbstorms lol. You're right, but that's assuming you're there to defend your camper. Option 2, my brother in law stole a laser from the military and it has a very intense beam on it that they would use to blind people not obeying their orders or for blinding drivers coming up at their checkpoints and not stopping. Could set that up in a tree or bush pointed at the camera and then sneak by and break in. But granted that's a lot of work just to get into someone's camper undetected. I just thought it was funny he said if you shine a bright light at the camera it pretty much makes it useless, that's a little too easy lol.

@@dedalliance1 It's nice to have neighbors you know, as well. We watch each other's stuff, and get in stranger's business when appropriate. When a "repair guy" shows up at my neighbor's site while their away, I make it a point to introduce myself, and get a business card from them. If they don't look legit, I let the office know. If they look really shady, I let the police know. We have each other's cell numbers, so I can let them know someone is working on their trailer. Plus, about every 5-6 residents of our park is a LEO of some kind. Very little in the way of stuff going missing happens around here. You know what this laser/flashlight needs? MORE POWER!

I suppose those with objections are making valid points yet even for the psychological effect I'd prefer anything to having nothing at all - I could always handle thieves taking my camera and having to replace it, but many robbers would first go to another RVers rig that doesn't have a camera.

Care to do a video after a few months use? I ask because I’ve spent a small fortune on video cameras, and found few of them to be fully functional as advertised. Many stop functioning and have to be power cycled to resume recording. Some stop recording to the wireless drives or lock up regularly not sensing any motion. I for one would like to hear that your camera actually worked without any troubles for you before buying one.

Wonder if 1) it can be integrated with an existing solar setup, thus eliminating the need for their panels, and 2) I think it would be best mounted at the front of the rig on each side so its up higher and also so it could more closely watch the bays where the solar setup and batteries would likely be.

Bought the same argus 2 last week. Use it while traveling for hotels and lodging. While away from the room I turn it on to make sure housekeeping, etc doesn't mess with or steal anything. Sends me a message over my phone, emails me a pic, and uploads a 6 sec video to the cloud if it detects any motion. You can also insert a sd card but I find that worthless if it is stolen. Works well! Have it wirelessly hooked up to my Ravpower hub which I hook up to the hotel internet or my wireless iPad. All the components can run off of it's own battery power for almost a day if needed.

If you put an SD card in the camera it will record onto the SD card whether you have an internet connection or not. But without an internet connection you won't get an cellphone alert that motion was detected .

Mount it higher. I have mine just under the awning so you would have to have a ladder to grab it. Of course you could get a long stick to knock it down but you'd have to get close enough and the camera could get video of the attempt.

Storage of clips is on the camera itself. Someone can just walk up and take the camera and you have no clips to review. Look at Arlo for same features, better system.

If you can afford it have cameras in view of other cameras but not facing them. Some crooks will use a flashlight to obscure their activities. However if you have multiple cameras watching other cameras, especially a few hidden the flashlight trick won’t work. What if the network fails or you are out of range? Will it still record but just can’t view it remotely?

Thank you so much we love your videos and you are a wealth of information for us. We are looking for an RV security system that can be up all the time but that is not big like a home security system we definitely wanted DVR we don't want the cameras to be super big and we wanted to be Wireless so we can check it from her phone as well is there anything out there that you recommend cuz nomadic fanatic did just put something in which was pretty neat but the cameras were huge and that is not kind of what we're looking for so I thought you might be the best one to ask thank you again so much for everything you do.

I think the camera on the outside will deter some (not all) from messing with the RV. I mounted mine just under the awning so you need a ladder to get to it. The system can be set-up with an internal SD card to record and Reolink has free cloud service for one camera (linking more requires a month subscription). I have one solar powered one the outside with an SD card and another inside that uploads to the cloud. If you can find a place to discretely position it to capture images of anyone coming through door it can either be recorded and uploaded so if the inside camera is taken you have a good chance of getting video of the theft.

This obviously has a real downside to it that hasn't been mentioned. If the camera is magnetically attached anyone could run up and grab it and run away and then break in with very little chance of being caught. This definitely is not foolproof

Well,i stopped watching when you chose a spot above the door to mount the camera. Magnetic or screws onto the base, put me off immediately. So easy to steal, need a miniature camera almost undetectable so it's not noticable. Seems you'd have to be sitting inside watching it when its set up so its not pinched....lol. Good try anyway.

I have been using Reolink cameras for over a year, and the video quality is very good. But you need to make sure you have a good internet connection.
