Have you tested Astrobrights or Neenah black cardstock yet? I am curious because they seem more affordable for my current budget, but I don't know how well they take toner/foil. Thanks in advance.

Can you give me advice on what I need to do to fix a problem? Every foiling attempt I’ve made has left foil all over the paper I’m foiling on-like a distressed look. There’s foil where there was no toner/design every time. I’ve tried cleaning all the surfaces for lint/dust, adjusting the heat settings ... always the same result: foil everywhere I don’t want it. Is my printer leaving toner on the copy that I can’t see? Could it be the settings I’m using to print on my computer or printer? Help! (Using mono Brother laser printer and have same results using Minc & laminator...)

I'm guessing you are using the wrong foil. You are probably using HOT FOIL which has an adhesive built into it. Email me a picture of the brand at [e-mail]

Can you tell me which Brother Laser Printer you use? I bought one and it doesn't work well with heavy cardstock. I'll try the 65lb but it definitely won't adhere the toner to the Neenah Classic Crest 80lb.

Do you have a front feed option? Make sure you feed in the front and have it come out the back. Change settings to heavy cardstock.

@@NancyStamps I do. I use it all the time. I've changed the settings to heavy cardstock. The toner adheres to photocopy paper perfectly. On my cardstock it comes out blurry and smudges really bad.

I can't seem to find the Craft Essentials UK cardstock anywhere. Since you're review 2 years ago have you found a suitable replacement? I'm looking for 80# with color options. Seems like all the ones I'm buying that say "smooth" have some sort of fiber element, so the foil is very spotty. Thank you.

I'm new to foiling using the Heidi Swapp machine and a laser printer. I've been using black card stock and doing some testing. Unfortunately, there appears to be dark streaks appearing on the card after it has gone through the minc machine. It looks like the shape of the wrinkles that appear on the clear folder you need to use when passing projects through the minc. Has anyone had this problem and if so, have you worked out why this is happening? I've used two different black cards: 160gsm and 185gsm. Is this too thin or poor quality? I'd love to know why this is happening. The actual gold foiling is turning out good. I've been using heat setting 4.

Please check out my brother print setting video. Are you feeding through the front and out the back? Check your toner fixation. The rollers could be smearing the toner.

@@NancyStamps Thanks for getting back to me. The part that has the smears doesn't have any toner printed on it. This is a card and I'm foiling the front. So the card is placed unfolded in the clear pocket. Then it has gold foil placed on the front section of the card. Should I be placing a piece of paper over the back of the card to help protect it from the heat?
