I’m struggling with foiling (newbie) so I’m glad I found this video. Simon, I’d like to recommend using the Swiffer dry dusting sheet instead of a brush for dusting your cardstock surface and foil instead of a brush. The sheets are like a magnet for dust (and glitter, etc) whereas the brush might release dust or particles that it grabbed beforehand. ;-)

I used a honeycomb die with the Duo gel and gold foil. Turned out GREAT! So if you have a die that has larger holes, it may be a candidate for the Duo gel. The hardest part is letting the gel dry completely!

I find that I am behind the times in that I haven’t invested in any stencils or in foiling machines or products. I don’t know where to start without having to invest a lot of money so this was helpful.

Our Nancy is just the BEST! Such a great video for learning to do the basic of foiling. I learned so much from her a while ago. I was so depressed when I started foiling and was using a laminator and didn't know what I was doing. That doesn't happen with the Minc and especially dusting! :))). Thank you Simon and Nancy.

Simon.. How did I miss this video!! So I bought a Glimmer two years ago and tried everything to be succesful. Epic Fail. It sat collecting dust. I love seeing how to foil, especially without heat. Everything seems to be heat foiling. I feel there is less error when you aren't depending on heat. I've bought many foil colors and I've been afraid to use them. You're videos make things look so easy!

That was fun to watch. I’ve watched Nancy Stamps many times in the past. I’ve been trying to not buy any machines or gizmos until I find the right one for me. Nancy uses the Gemini foiling unit also which is also kewl. My thought about that right now is that you have to buy the dies. I understand some dies you have will also work, but I’ve recently purchased the gel to try. I’m leaning towards the smaller minc, but I’m going to play with the gel by itself for a little while first. Great idea on the new series. Looking forward to it.

OK Simon, think I’m going to rename you “The Tipster”! Great video. I am NOT getting any more machines, so these are all abut COLD processs, QUESTIONS: (1) In her 1st cold process (gold foil dots on black cardstock) she stops and reverses die cut sandwich upside down. Better because? (2) Why would “Best way to use scraps” be any different than initial use of cardstock in cold process where only hand pressure (or die cut machine pressure) is used? (3) Were you as successful with mere hand pressure over use of die cut machine? (4) If only going to use cold process is product NOT “duo” used? Thanks so much!!

Hi Cheri, I switched my sandwich so the smooth magnetic shim was pushing on the gel, not the scratched up plate which can indent the gel. You can use any die cutting machine. Yes, you can also burnish it by hand but the pressure from the die cutting machine makes it easier. Duo gel, zig 2 way glue or tape will work for cold process. Great questions.
