I think Wifi calling uses VoIP, that is and interntet protocol used to make calls instead of usign 3, 4 or 5G networks. Regardles of it being and phisical or e-sim.

Probably not since VoIPs don't work for what I'm speaking about in the video. You're less likely to receive OTPs with a VoIP.

Can you use the usmobile talk/text over wifi along with a separate esim for data and not have to find wifi? this would be a two sim or esim phone . in other words would the data sim carry the talk/text signals instead of wifi? I presume you would still have the USMobile sim selected for calls. I have seen one blogger says it works. Did you try that on your europe jaunt? I didn't see a further review of your communication experience on the europe trip videos.

Not really 100 percent sure about anything with esims. I just stick to basic wifi calling since it's included in my plan and there's wifi almost everywhere now. It has worked perfectly for me everywhere I've gone.

My iPhone allows multiple esim cards. If I use Airplane mode it turns off all line. My other line is an international country where I visit, any suggestions?

Hello! I just tried it and it didn't work. I put my phone in airplane mode, activated WiFi and WiFi Calling and did not get the text from my bank with the code. Very disappointed!

if someone calls you from usa do they need to include your country code + area code? or do they just dial your regular number as if you were really in usa/your city? thanks

They would call you just as if you were in the US, nothing extra.

So I was just In Thailand for couple of months. I got a local Esim and it worked great but I did not get verification codes because the default sim was the esim. So if I want to receive sms codes, I would have to put the default sim setting back on my US sim card, put airplane mode on and log onto hotel wifi ? then once I'm done just switch back to the Thailand Esim as the default sim and take off airplane mode ? Do I have this right ?

When you are abroad, if you remove your US SIM card from your phone, will Wi-Fi calling still work? Or it needs SIM card inserted even abroad? Also, in the video you said you activated Wi-Fi calling when still in the US. I wonder if it's possible to activate this feature after leaving US. When I was going abroad, Wi-Fi Calling on my phone was on but maybe provider did not activate this feature, so now when I'm abroad it does not work. If somebody in the US calls my number, it goes straight to voicemail

Maybe it depends on your US network provider but mine was very clear that I had to activate WIFI calling with them on their end before leaving the country. Also, if it were me I wouldn't remove the SIM card while abroad, who knows it could reset everything. Good luck!

I was told #1 You must turn on Wi-Fi Calling before leaving the US #2 You cannot update your phone's software while abroad because it temporarily turns off Wi-Fi Calling #3 You cannot remove your SIM card because it turns of Wi-Fi Calling. If Wi-Fi Calling is turned off abroad, you must return to the US to turn it back on.

I pay less than $10 per month with a very basic plan. You just need to make sure you have wifi calling included in the plan.

You connected to WiFi with airplane mode turned on. I thought that if you are in Airplane mode, you cannot connect to WiFi.

I used to think that as well but airplane actually just cuts you off from your network. You can still use your wifi and therefore wifi calling

does this work in australia? i think i tried it in uk and it wasn't receiving text. i also have us mobile but i requested for a international line. did i do something wrong? let me know please :) thanks for the video!

I assume you're American. It's not so complicated, no international line required. Just a basic line with the WIFI calling option which the US mobiles line include. Make sure to activate the wifi calling on their end with an agent before leaving the country. It won't work if it's not activated prior to leaving the country. Once you're all set up it works worldwide with any wifi or hotspot connection. I hope this helps. Australia is an amazing country to visit. Enjoy

Some banks don’t allow that and won’t send sms if you on WiFi even if you enable WiFi calling unfortunately

Weird, mine works for everything. Your network provider has to offer the WIFI calling service for it to work. Maybe you're thinking of something different?

@@inbetweenzebra yes if this service requires a sim, it would be a dual sim situation since I will have a local number with data also. Just wondering if I have to be somewhere with WiFi to do banking or if I could do it using the data from the second sim
