Honestly not as bad as I thought it’d be, just over a grand USD. Any decent European car eats that several times a year. The only thing I like better on the 15500s is the rotor, other than that I prefer the dial that you have it’s beautiful. The attention to detail even on the screw alignment shows their quality. Congratulations on your purchase and continued channel quality.

The guys at the first boutique acted like absolute scum. If they were never going to allocate the watch to you, they should have just politely refused at the outset instead of giving you false hope and treating you like a child. Glad that you were able to eventually acquire the watch

I have my royal oak I picked it up about three years ago in Manfreti jewelers in Greenwich Connecticut . he gets them in all the time . I just picked up A Lange if you want a certain watch I would go see Roberto in Manfredi jewels he finds everything

Owned this watch for 2 years, extremely beautiful watch, fits my wrist so well. But it gets scratches so easily, probably 1-2 hairline scratch per day you wearing. I actually felt a huge relief after selling the watch.

Congratulations! To me the AP Royal Oak still the most iconic automatic watch design ever made. But I'm not sure if I would buy the modern versions cause it does not match the beauty of the original Royal Oak concept, being extremely thin (only 7mm), automatic, water proof and beautiful at the same time.

Yeah i've had a white dialled 37mm Royal Oak on my wrist and agree it wears closer to a 40mm & is a good fit for my 6 1/4" wrist. Nice choice! I recently put down a deposit for a Grand Seiko SLGH003 which has similar qualities to what you described.

I shouldve clarified further - I truly believe some boutiques and ADs harm brands beyond belief. I wouldnt give business to those particular branches. Poor service cant be entirely blamed on the brand itself, but they are partially responsible for not looking over the employees that are hired under their company. Nevertheless, the boutique I go to now has exceeded any service I would come to expect from any store.

I think your experience is the typical AP boutique experience. I saw someone in KL had similar experience with you. He and his family went there as their appointment was set at that particular date and time, but the security stop them from entering the premise due to the sales rep that set that appointment was apparently on “leave”.

Difficult to say. Movement finishing is done more by hand than machine from Grand Seiko I believe, but AP also has a fair bit of hand work going into it like utilizing a traditional pantograph and manual brushing. How I see it is, GS is a fraction of the cost with comparable finishing, which speaks a lot.

@@LumeShot The movement finishing of most GS is almost entirely done by machine, except you go for 9R01/9R02, which are truly hand-finished. This AP cal.3120 is partially touched-up by hand, which is the standard of most current high-end brands.

But the advice I got from my AD watch guru, the Annual Calendar over the Alinghi(?) Swiss yacht that won the America’s Cup. My fav brand is IWC

Congratulations on your grail. Nice watch. I am a serious high horology collector for many many years. Although the royal oak is not my grail watch, I always fancied getting one for the collection. Went to many AP boutiques and since been messed about like yourself. That has put me off the watch. No watch is worth going through that service especially as a watch collector. I purchased one of grails recently from Patek. Had to put a deposit down for the watch a few years back and that showed me as a consumer that I was registered and also for them that they had a serious buyer. Got thr call, did the transaction and got the watch. Brilliant service all round. Once you collect the watch, they make you feel like they couldn't do enough for you.

I'm glad you finally found your grail AP, Eric! Many Congrats to you! But I have to agree that the I had some bad experiences at different AP boutiques as well (here in Germany). I also had some horrible service issues on my first AP (Royal Oak Offshore Diver) as well when I bought it in 2019. I really love their watches but the brand really turned me down somewhat... nevertheless I'm glad that you got this beautiful piece! I can btw. absolutely relate to your comments regarding fit & size of a Royal Oak. It's really not very easy to find a perfect model for smaller wrists. I have a 16cm (6,25inch) wrist and had the exact same issues. Funny enough I ended buying the Offshore Diver in 2019 which sounds ridiculous but on the smooth rubber strap this really fits well. Of course it's a hefty watch but I also wear a Panerai 44mm which fits also very nice on my wrist due to the small lug-to-lug size. Same goes for the Offshore Diver which I would never have been expected! Keep up the great videos and let us know how you feel with your AP after some time! All the best from Germany!
