The D4 light on my Honda Accord was blinking because of a bad electrical connection on the transmission lock-up solenoid. If your Honda is a V6, the lock-up solenoid should be located just below the coolant hoses. Give the electrical connector a good tug at the wires to see if any loose connections are present.

I have a 2000 honda accord v6. The d4 light flashes and it wont shift on its own. To drive properly i have to put the drive lever into 2nd then shift into 3rd as I accelerate. If i try to shift into 1st it stays in second and if i shift into 4th it stays in 3rd. Im able to drive the car as normal (with crappy acceleration). Would these symptoms match this issue? Thanks!

If it’s blinking only yes if your having to do that it’s not a sensor and the light is trying to warn u like a check engine light but for transmission TRANSMISSION IS FAILING

I would turn the car on and check the transmission fluid levels. If the fluid is clean and at the right level, might be a bad transmission.

@@neertomar7347 For both of you, yes it CAN be a shift solenoid causing it, but it can also be a plugged up transmission filter / Low Transmission fluid / Bad or Very old transmission fluid. Theres a reason the manufacturers of the transmission recommend you to change the filter and fluid at the very least every 100,000 miles. Usually this interval is 15,000-30,000 miles if you are mostly driving in town or "short stop and go" trips all the time. If you are a mostly highway (55mph +, for the majority) driver you can stretch this to the 100,000 mark.

I have a 01 v6 Accord. Flashing D4, when shifted into D4 only 4th gear works. Car won’t shift automatically. I got a code P0758 for shift solenoid B, replaced it, same issue, I checked the wiring and it all has power. Im stuck now. Any suggestions? Would a pressure switch cause this?

I would change out the connectors that are wired to the Shift B solenoid. Even a slightly loose connection will give a false reading. Also, locate all your ground wire connections and use a metal brush to remove any dirt that may have built up on them.

This flashing light can also be caused due to a faulty transmission oil pressure sensor. If the fault isnt as apparent as what's shown in the video your best bet is to pull the code from a scan tool to isolate the issue. 😀

Maybe. Loose electrical connections will create issues. Those solenoids also have little metal filters to catch any debris. Those metal screens might be clogged.

I checked the wiring schematic and everything seems to be kosher, but on one side it says "To instrument cluster". Where does that go? Do you know?

Not nice. Question though - What are you doing watching how to fix something as you appear to know more than what was shared? I am a female and I understood everything he said, what it meant, and what the problem was - My car has the flashing D4 and this guy showed and told me more than others who think they are explaining the problem. If you need a person with a computer to tell you what is wrong with a car - then you have more problems than you can know or understand. A real mechanic doesn't need a computer to diagnose a real machine. My dad could listen to the engine, touch things under the hood, and it would run better than new. Those people are rare as hen's teeth. I miss him greatly. Learn some manners. It helps to have them when you are seeking help from others.
