We need to get something done about this emission crap. I don’t know what can be done, but now is our opportunity to get some of these laws changed.

JB, glad you finally got the Banks I dash, it is a wonderful tool. I have had an I dash since 2017 on my first L5P. Your soot load concerns me. Typically soot load should reach 100% and a regen should start and within 30 miles soot should be down to single digits. Also watch the distance between regens, I noticed yours was sitting at a little over 200 miles. If you are doing a lot of WOT runs you could be putting a lot of soot into your DPF. You shouldn't ever see any black smoke coming from the exhaust! If I were you I would use the I dash to perform a stationary regen and see if your soot load decreases, if not take your truck in for service! To do the stationary regen, go to the diagnostics page on the Idash and select stationary regen. By using my Idash to watch what was going on with my 23 L5P dually I was able to diagnose a EGR valve that was never fully closing and causing me to generate excessive soot. I gave this info along with a failed intake tract pressure test to my service manager and he ordered a new EGR valve and replaced it under warranty and all is good again.

He’s not looking at DPF SL% though…which when it gets to 100% will begin a regen.
@davecamilleri941119 күн бұрын
DPF SL is the PID that I would monitor to help keep tract of the soot load.

Maybe at some point in the near future, flash tuning will be available for the 24 and newer Duramax trucks. One of the reasons I purchased my 2023 is because of the fact that there's a ton of performance parts, up to and including deleting. Without flash tuning, there is no deleting the 24s or newer. I drive my truck as a daily, so my truck is susceptible to frequent regens. Whenever the 24s have more available aftermarket performance support, especially flash tuning, I may look into upgrading.

Think about all the plastic DEF containers getting thrown out. Far worse than some raw diesel exhaust.

I think your Idash is due for an update. I recently did an update and now my regen says “ON” instead of “ACT” now. Also, DPF SL% is a better monitor as to when it will regen. The regen ends at around 10-15% then residual heat brings it to 0%….pretty cool to watch!

I want to delete my 6.7 as well but live in NY... I will be getting the iDash I hope soon I really like what it can do. I use Amsoil all in one and Opti-lube xl with every fill up and I can honestly say when I started with the XL I could feel and see a difference in the truck i'm really happy. You might want to try it!

Assuming Ford and GM are similar to RAM, the truck will actively regen when the DPF gets close to 50% full or every 24 engine hours.
@johngriswold873521 күн бұрын
Add DPSL to your menu and you'll see current diesel particulate soot level and see it actively monitor as you drive. If you set the alarm to indicate when in regen, a small yellow "regen" box is lit without taking up a whole space on your menu. So, you get active soot level and regen status in one box. I don't like to shut the truck down in the middle of a regen cycle and prefer to run it completely through. You can plan your route accordingly knowing that status.

@RogerMcIntosh21 күн бұрын
Very disappointing that you cannot initiate or delay a regen with the iDash. When it's at 99% and you are 3 minutes from home, it is stupid to let it start a regen. My tractor allows this, but my 2024 Duramax does not, even with the iDash.

I feel the iDash is too expensive. All I did was buy a $40 ODB Bluetooth reader and I can see when it regens thru the screen from Android auto.

Mixed feeling on this. Not a fan of the over complicated emission systems, but deleted trucks stink really bad in my opinion. Really annoys me when I am following someone. Yet my little tractor doesn't stink like that at all with no emissions crap. shrug......
@mikemyers351521 күн бұрын
Your tractor is properly tuned. A lot who delete their trucks, seem to aim for as much smoke and noise they can make. A truck can be deleted in a way, the only way to tell is to take things apart or hook a computer to it.

Somebody told me that there EPA didn’t have the authority to in do what they did, congress only has the authority to implement this and they never, so if you delete you are not breaking the law,,
@jameseroh654420 күн бұрын
Not true. The EPA was authorized by Congress. And the laws they enforce were written to require the EPA to research for and adopt regulations to meet certain emissions goals.
@3.0dmax20 күн бұрын
What you were told is half true. The supreme court ruled that agencies far exceeded their authorities under the Chevron deference doctrine. What the supreme court did NOT do is retroactively strike down all of the rules and regulations that the agencies have implemented. Doing so would have caused immediate chaos and lawsuits. It is up to the next administration to get the agencies back into compliance with the actual laws that congress has passed.
@Scroll_Lock20 күн бұрын
If you delete you are still breaking some states laws. SCOTUS overturned Chev. Def. this year so any and all of the EPA regulations can be challenged in court where they will lose. It's going to be a wait and see game for a long while but the future looks brighter.

Be careful recommending the iDash, it works best with a Duramax but Bank's is a Duramax company. I have two iDash Data Monsters, one for my ECODiesel and the other for my RAM Cummins. The information Banks publishes that the iDash can monitor for either of my vehicles is not listed on the iDash as a monitorable parameter. For example, I can not see what gear my Cummins is in or if the TC is locked because the iDash does not list these parameters for selection to monitor despite Banks listing these as monitorable. I've called them about this, they act surprised and tell me to rescan my truck which results in nothing new. I'm disappointed with the iDash for RAM trucks and I would not recommend them for RAM diesels if you are looking for certain information like regenerations. Just because the Banks web site lists these parameters doesn't mean you will see them.

Thank you for the information on how the iDash works on the RAM. I was getting ready to order one but won't now. Any suggestions on a aftermarket gauge?
@gobluekurt21 күн бұрын
I can see my regens, %, time between EGT temps, etc. You are right on gear but I think it is not banks but the 18+ security because if you see Banks still doesn’t have a tuner for this gen. That being said a security bypass and alfaobd gets you much more like gear it is on in same location of the gear selection pop up etc.
@InLineDiesel621 күн бұрын
@@BillUtah Scan gauge (bigger unit) is one option but I have not tried it on a Cummins, just my ECODiesel. On the ECODiesel the iDash provides info on regens. These are the only two units I have had first hand experience with. For reference, my Cummins is a 2015 and my ECODiesel is a 2022.
