The whole time I was watching this, I was thinking, "Not only does he have to have a gameplan prior to starting - not only does he have to do the work - but he has to be conscious of camera angles and what the final edit will look like." Dude, you are a freakin' rockstar. What an amazing amount of effort. Incredible.Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm so stoked for you.

Ca. 27:00 you made me happy, not because you are struggling, but because every project has those moments, and it’s great to know we have a community of people who get it. . .even if we never meet. The lesson in perseverance is probably the most important part of this video. Thanks, Colt!

Amazing attention to detail here. Your obsession with the aesthetics is what makes you a great mix engineer. You're also going to make a lot of folks jealous and inspired. This certainly gave me some ideas for re-vamp my own space. You should be very proud, Colt. Now get back to work! 😂

Still here bro. Almost moved to tears in watching your emotions go from defeated to victory. I am working with Gavin myself (total DIY house build) and somedays it is hard to get out of bed. Seeing the joy you experienced in finishing the room and saying "it was worth it" was the biggest motivation shot you could've given me. I'm maybe a month or so from finishing the control room and then I have to start working on my other rooms in the build. I AM TIRED. Congrats on a job well done!

Great stuff! I just keep thinking… “Headphones” … I love videos like this because even though setting up a studio space can be frustrating I really think Audio guys enjoy the process.. everything is always so aesthetically pleasing and cool to look at. Everything is always in flux.. it’s mind blowing how much money and time gets chunked at getting speakers, rooms, and music to work properly together.. at the same time most great headphones with virtually flat frequency responses cost roughly $500 😬 Eric Valentine and his dream barn studio still has problems.. enough to make you insane. I’m not capable, and I’d assume most other people, of dealing with this the rest of my life so I’ll just spend as much time as I can with headphones on and maybe I’ll just get good at that 🤷‍♂️

I’m still here and i was hoping to stay put for another hour or so but the whole video was so immersive that I didn’t even notice the time to be honest. One of my favorite parts of the video was when you showed the vulnerability of someone working so hard to accomplish something and at the same time dealing with the daily challenges in life!! Sometimes we (the audience) get this false impression of you (the creators) not having any issues while making videos about your impressive achievements!! Congrats and keep it up and never stop influencing people for good. I found your channel long time ago and now I just started to learn the basics of audio and you sir have been that inspiration.

@@ColtCapperrunethat software, Smaart, is the industry standard for live sound rta and transfer function for alignment and measurement. One fun example of using subs to change relative frequency response: Bassnectar was playing Red Rocks. There’s a very strict db limit there to preserve the integrity of the rocks/mountain the venue is built into. The FOH engineer brought a small sub to FOH and timed/polarity flipped it in relation to the main PA so the measurement mics would read lower. Bassnecter was thusly banned from performing at Red Rocks.

Just a music lover here, thought about becoming an engineer in the mid 80's but didn't. I love your channel. Made it all the way through with 1 pause lol. Keep going Colt. 🤘🎸🤘

THIS is what is depressing. Colt seems (and seemingly every other studio owner that shows up on YT.) He/they seem to know exactly what to do without having to "trial and error" it. These videos are a double-edge sword. You can learn things but on the other side of it you have to shove those "I'm too freeking stupid to do this" feelings aside. That's a battle to contend with ...like all the time. Never give up. Never give up.

I totally loved watching this as I am about to embark on a studio build myself in the Cookeville area...I will have a pretty large live room with 15' walls and a 2/12 pitch ceiling...I will totally be doing something along this line with the control room...Vocal booth as well...!...Thank you so much for your hard work and for doing this for all of us...!...Huge fan for years...!...CHEERS...!!!

Watched entire vid. Haven't seen content from you in awhile. I needed this. Been running low in motivation myself in my studio. Feeling recharged. Thanks Colt

Bro…. Wow! You made a feature length documentary on this process! Super inspiring all the work you put into your space. I’m currently building out my 1st proper space since I left Nashville in ‘08 and getting back into it. Super inspiring stuff here. Your dedication shows through 110%!!! Can’t wait to see what’s next🤘🤘
