"one of the best nurses we've ever had" - I do not doubt that my friend! Imagine going from that to "Just go somewhere else" wow rude! That would upset anyone. You were massively under-appreciated and there was a severe lack of respect for you, your skills, and your time. They are the ones who lost out. Gosh I didn't expect this to be such an emotional rollercoaster 😭 I'm so so incredibly happy for you! Congratulations! Well done fighting for your dream - it sure paid off! Yay!!!! This is amazing! I am so excited for you!!! I am in the process of making my dream job a reality. I have been a general education teacher for 20 years, most of which I have taught 4th grade. I have felt unhappy in my job for the past 3 years, and I have always been interested in working with ELL students (students learning English). I even took one year of Russian language courses over 20 years ago out of pocket. Right now I am currently going to school to get my ELL Endorsement while I am still working full-time as a 4th grade teacher. It has been really exhausting, but I will be done by June 1st. I will spend the next few months looking for a new ELL teaching position. I'm nervous because school districts in my area have to deal with major budget cuts, so I don't know what will be available for next school year. Hearing your story has given me hope that I will be placed where I am meant to be. I have 10 nurses in my extended family, all on my mom's side. 1 grandmother, 1 uncle, 4 aunts and 4 cousins. Nurses are so important and wonderful! ❤

Oh wow Jackie!! Congratulations on finally getting your dream nursing job, I’m so happy and excited for you!! It’s been quite the rollercoaster of events you’ve been going through these past few months, and years actually. I had goosebumps listening to you talk about it all. It really does sound like the Universe just had the perfect thing lined up for you all along in how it alll worked out. I’m convinced there is no other harder working and underpaid people than nurses working in hospitals. It must truly be a labor of love to stay at that job for years on end. The very little amount of experience I got when I went through my LPN training in the hospital was enough time for me to realize I wasn’t cut out to work in a hospital setting. I’m sure you will be the best PICU nurse and they are blessed to have you!

If I had left two years ago, this opportunity wouldn’t have even been there. Everything from the mix up with the virtual interview, to the interview with my “dream hospital” was all practice with nerves and interview questions to get me to my current place and have a smooth interview. From reading some other comments, it looks like we're all crying tears of happiness for you. Congratulations!! My daughter was born with Pierre Robin syndrome and spent the first 3 1/2 months in the hospital. There were some amazing nurses, but there were also a few that we had some pretty huge issues with. I would have been thrilled to have you be one of my daughters nurses. Like you said, I can also feel that you were meant for this job. You're going to be great at it because of how passionate you are about it. Our story; The hardest part of that experience for me was just not knowing how long until she would be able to come home. People just kept telling us that she needs to grow more before she can have the surgeries she needed. After a few weeks a few nurses started telling us that we could take her home and care for her there while she's growing and waiting for surgery, if we were trained how to feed her with the feeding tube and how to use whatever other equipment was needed. We heard this several times from multiple people over a couple of weeks and we had started getting our hopes up. Eventually I started asking "well, what do we need to do, what do we need to learn, because we want to bring her home". I said this to one nurse who responded by yelling at me, like how dare I even suggest such a thing? She screamed "what don't you understand? If you take her home, she will die! Do you want her to die??!". For anyone who has had to go through a similar situation, you know that this is an extremely emotionally trying, and exhausting time. I just snapped. I never scream at people, but I felt like my baby would never come home. She would be "growing" until adulthood, and no one would even narrow down the time frame of what to expect. Then we had this gross miscommunication between staff members and this one nurse who made me feel like the worst mother in the world just for wanting to bring my baby home when I was led to believe could be done safely. My daughter was transferred to another hospital shortly after that, 90 min away. This new hospital was amazing though. Everyone was very professional and clear and extremely nice and understanding. They started surgeries right away, and even told me that she could have handled it weeks ago! If you're curious, the first hospital was children's in Buffalo NY. The second was Strong in Rochester. My daughter had 5 surgeries within the first year, but was completely done after that. Today you would never know she went through any of it, unless you were told.

Wow what an amazing and terribly sad story! But with a happy ending 🥰🥰 Thank you for sharing it with me. And I’m so sorry you had to experience that at all and that some of those nurses were so horrible. I hate to say it, but sometimes, nurses become too jaded or burnt out or just lose their compassion. I hope to NEVER be one of those nurses. The day I get angry at a parent for wanting to bring their child home, is the day I think I’ll leave nursing for good.

Your video really touched me in so many ways. I graduated with my associates in nursing RN in 2018 after dropping out in 2012. I have yet to take my NCLEX RN mostly due to financial reasons and this year my situation is letting me save for the exam. The computer adaptive testing is what's freaking me out because even in the program we didn't test like that. Any advice would be appreciated! You are definitely an inspiration to never give up!! I really hope to be working in pedi some day too. Ever since I did my pedi rotation in school I know working with kids feels right plus the pedi exams I scored my highest. Sorry for the ramble just wanted to tell you thank for posting this video! ❤

Wow I hope you are able to take your exam this year! I will say the farther you get away from when you graduated, the harder the nclex will be. I highly recommend you rent/borrow some nclex books. Specifically the ones that come with cds that have practice tests. Then study them over and over and over. Backwards and forwards until you can learn the type of answers they are looking for. Then WHEN you pass your nclex, forget all about it 😂 real nursing is nothing like school or the nclex. School teaches you in a way to pass a test. Real nursing begins on the floor. I sure hope you are able to get your license soon and start working on your dream!! Good luck and please let me know when you pass 😊

Yaay Jackie!! Congratulations! 🥳 I'm so happy for you, I was crying with you hahaha. And I have to say that I'm really impressed by your determination, that inspires me a lot! (I'm currently looking for another job so) I have a feeling you're great with kids, and hope this job will be everything you ever wanted. I was sad to hear you had such a hard time in 2023, but I'm sure that it can only go up from here! ❤

Thank you! Yes it can only go up from here. I’m excited to be learning new things, meeting new people and feeling refreshed again. I hope your job search goes well. It’s such a hard thing with nerves to interview, the waiting process. It’s rough
