I think part of the reason he might not of cleaned up after himself may just be because of the state of your garden. Come on most of that was sat under or wrapped in the tarp. He definitely saved you with doing that, rectifying your mess. Best thing you advertised a man and slated him at the same time, morale of the story check what you have been donated before you use it.

That video was a week later there was fiberglass all throughout the house everywhere I would never leave one of my customers like that and yes he did save me and like I said many times in the video I am very great full

@keepingitkoi no offence Jamie, it actually sounded a bit rude the way you spoke about him and the mess. It being a week later means nothing really the tarp and other stuff were still in the way and when are you going to tidy that garden up?

Luke did a quality job on my pond of which I’m well happy with. 100% recommend him, however he wasn’t having to rectify a DIY job beforehand.

Glad you’ve got it sorted😊👍. Must admit that I gave the whole of my pond a light sanding and then gave it another final coat and ended up with a very smooth finish, might be worth thinking about???. Looking forward to seeing the glass going in😊👍

Nice job Jamie, i think its normal to have to nib the bits down i had the same mate just a light sand down sorted it any marks from sanding soon disapear when the water goes in nps, the bits on the top will be fine when the coping goes on, as for tidying up the 2 lads who done mine did tidy up but you still find bits thats blown around soon cleared up. One thing to do mate before filling with water give the whole pond a salt scrub.
@keepingitkoi

Thanks bud yeh I thought as much there was fiberglass tracked all through the pergola and the house he didn't even offer to sweep or vacuum but least it's done now and thanks for the tip on the salt scrub 😊👍

Hi Jamie, great to see the pond glassed mate. I understand that you may not be feeing to happy about some of the finer details / finish of it, but I really don’t think you have anything to worry about. Yes, the flowcoat itself is waterproof when cured, but its not an essential layer. Every layer of the fibreglass that’s been applied with resin should be waterproof. The thickness you showed from the drilled out return showed its potentially got a couple of layers ‘and’ a layer of tissue. Then a flowcoat. The pinholes you have on the flowcoat layer, are ‘very’ unlikely to have any effect on the fibreglass waterproofing capability. I’m almost certain it will be waterproof, especially if this guy is experienced. And if it does leak, then he’ll need to come back and fix it. It can sometimes be difficult to see just how good a finish will be until it has fully cured, and well his working conditions weren’t exactly perfect. The corner where you thought it was cracked, I highly doubt it, and his explanation sounds about right, but I get that you would have liked a nicer finish than that. Most of the fibreglass tanks you see, that can be bought etc, are made from a mould, and therefore they have a Gelcoat, which is actually put in to the mould first, before the fibreglass is set on top of that. These take far longer to cure / set etc and will always have a FAR smoother finish. It’s a real shame you are clearly not 💯 happy with the finish, as I’m sure you will have paid a few quid 💷 for it, but I am almost certain, it will do the job it is supposed to mate…… 🤞🏼 😊 👍🏼 …and as it’s outdoors, it will get that layer of algae and biofilm on it fairly quickly, that you probably won’t even see the surface of it soon.

That crack part looks like the overlap of the last pcs of fiberglass going on to the layer below is that a hole along that edge what you pointed at all is it just the way it looks.hope it holds water for you👍

Hope you get it sorted Jammie. I cant comment about fiberglassing but the pin holes are not normal according to all the videos from Matt. I would follow the advice from people about the sanding and coat again.

My work fibreglasses vans and the laminators say It should have had a real good sanding before the flowcoat was put on for a smooth finish and you really shouldnt have too many pin holes in the flowcoat but it looks like you had a load in yours. I would try to give it another coat if you could.

You’ll be picking fibreglass up for weeks. I would be tempted to lightly sand a re flow coat once the waters in you won’t see any imperfections.
