Hi Danny, very nice small variegated leaves orchids, but they look a bit worse for the voyage so let’s have a look at them in 2 or 3 months from now and see how good you have made them. I am sure that they will be **beautiful** ! Thanks for sharing !

I love my Jewel Orchids. I got them last summer. Easy to care for here in FL. I keep mine in soil. They are doing great and never a pest issue. They are blooming now..... 🕊

Thanks for another great vid Danny. :D I wondered if I might ask some advice. After one of your previous videos about jewel orchids, I fell in love and bought some for myself. If it sparkles I'm in, so I thank you very much for introducing me :D I bought a Macodes Petola and a Macodes Sanderiana. Both rooted cuttings arrived safely, and were even more beautiful than you had promised! They acclimated well and started new leaves. Long story short, the Petola is growing great and doing really well. The Sanderiana is, however, a different story. After producing two new leaves she started to flower. A terminal flower. I really didn't know what to do, but she seemed ok and I didn't want to cut off the flower and maybe risk infection in such a young plant. Anyway, the flower stem started to bud and the original leaves began to die off ..... :( ..... So I panicked and cut off the flower :( :( The flower stem dried up ok ... aaaand ..... nothing happened ....... for a while. Then a small bump appeared near the base of the plant stem and I hoped for a new leaf. The bump grew a little and .... the last two leaves started to die. So now I have a decapitated dead flower stem, a single, mostly dead, leaf and a small bit of healthy-ish stem with some roots that don't look great attached. I don't think she's going to make it :( :( :( So. I was wondering, do you think I should contact the seller. It's not really their fault, but I feel like, if it hadn't flowered so soon, it would be fine like the Petola. I don't know nursery etiquette, so thought I would ask someone with experience. Thanks for your time. If you read this :D You helped me save a Phalaenopsis orchid I was slowly killing, and I will be eternally grateful :D

Great wardian case! I bet you could try growing one of the warmer growing mini pleurothallids in it. I am growing pleurothallis brigamii in a mini glass terrarium on my coffee table and it is doing great and flowering like crazy.

Beautiful little Jewels. My husband got me a Macodes Sanderiana for our anniversary and she lasted 2 weeks and then rotted 😫 learning all I can before trying again. But they are so lovely!!

Love the terrarium and the jewel orchids. I have a ludisia discolor which only grows vertically 😑 my 3 macodes petolas I've had for almost a year look fine, they gave me a couple of new leaves. Don't know why the bottom leaves turn yellow, I just cut them off. Have them in peat moss/soil/bark. Keep buying them because I want them bushier. Now that spring is almost here I'm hoping to see some growth...

Too bad I can’t send you a picture through here (or don’t know) of my Ludisia. It’s so big and in gorgeous bloom it would win a gold medal in any show. It has more than 30 blooms and it’s humongous! Your big one is about 1/10th the size of mine.

The terrarium looks lovely. 😊 Have you tried African Violet soil? That's what I use for jewel orchids in a pot with a reservoir in the bottom. My ludisia has quadrupled in size in the 2 years I've had it so it seems to work.

I’ve been wanting to move my jewel orchid into a terrarium. It’s very VERY dry here but mine seems to be just fine, but he gets plenty of water and is planted in moss. I’m hoping I don’t kill him moving him into his new home 😫 I seem to kill things when I repot them.

Your jewel orchids look soo pretty. I live in a high altitude climate which is semi tropical sort of, it gets very hot for a few of months the rest of the year is cooler with ok rain throughout. I have had the lodisia orchid since December now it's growing but the bottom leaves keep dying off, I don't know what to do?

Hi, it might be transplant shock, if the previous medium was a lot more water retentive and the new one isn't, the roots might go into shock. It's ok, the new roots will adapt to the new medium, just make sure to remove the dead ones. Here's more about it kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnbNlH2fodp5bNk

Hi, I had issues with them in bark and moss in this climate, they really hated the air pockets! I would go for something finer indeed!
