My mother had Alzheimer's Disease. My brother cared for her while working full-time. To start with she was capable of staying on her own while my brother was at work but as the disease progressed she needed someone with her for a good part of the day. Most of her friends had passed away except her lifelong friend who visited her regularly. The other, younger friends drifted away. It's difficult to hold a conversation with someone who repeats the same thing over and over. Eventually, my mother had to go into a care home. I couldn't help as I lived 500 miles away. If she'd had an Optimus, my brother would have had an easy mind when he was at work. Optimus would have been able to make sure my mother was safe, make her tea and a meal. He would have made sure she took her medication. Perhaps one of the most important things, she would not have felt so isolated and lonely. Optimus would have been able to chat to her and perhaps by keeping her mind more active, slowed the disease. A robot won't mind how many times a person repeats herself. Sadly, Optimus has come along too late for my mother - she passed away 24 years ago at the age of 82.

That most likely will cost the owners to pay a steep price to have a service tech come out the home, farm etc. on service calls. I didn't hear Elon talk about the ongoing maint costs to the purchaser re these Optimus robots, did you????

You know that it's possible robots building robots would maybe drive down cost. Also, why not make them hybrid using different energy cells or batteries? Why not?
