FINALLY! HAZMAT RESPONSE!

At approximately 1300 on November 11th, Aid 14 took a call for a medical. Initially, the caller reported that there was a person being pepper sprayed at the Goodwill Outlet on 6th Avenue. Upon arrival, Aid 14 requested more units as there were multiple patients. Engine Co. 10, Rescue Co. 1, and Battalion 2 were dispatched to support. At that time, the call was changed from a medical to a hazardous materials response. Hazmat Co. 1 was escorted to the scene by Ladder Co. 1, Aid 10, and Staff 10. Firefighters donned their gear and made entry to assist those injuried and clear the scene of the hazardous material. The material in question turned out to be mace chemicals that was in the storage room. The incident is currently under investigation.

[Edit to add that the double-decker bus you see at 0:43 is one of "my" buses, leaving our downtown lot on the way to start a trip through town on its way north. @@PlatinumEagleStudios They don’t use it often though. Also I’d argue that the manual q is better because it produced more square sound waves which are easier to hear and quicker. And the siren tones differ slightly.

Staff cars carry additional staff to supplement crews on engines, they transport supervisors, they carry extra supplies, etc.

"Get with the program"? Seattle CREATED the program that is followed by many fire departments around the country. There are two main types of EMS units here: Aid Cars that are manned by EMTs, and Medic Units that are manned by paramedics. They have distinctive radio call signs, such as "Aid 10" or "Medic 7," and the equipment and supplies vary between the two types. Laugh all you want, but Seattle's Medic One program is the envy of many.

@@seikibrian8641 sure they did...it started in LACounty then San Francisco. While I know Seattle is a great department, as I’ve seen their work first hand. I just think I’d funny while all other departments use the term EMS, Seattle still does not want to use it .

@@Shuttletrain "it started in LACounty" LA County's paramedic program began with their "Rescue Squad" units, and they couldn't transport patients but had to call ambulances to transport. Seattle's paramedic program was transport-capable from the beginning.

Hazmat vehicles should be colored white or yellow instead, That's what i mostly associate with vehicles being hazmat units

Why does it matter? If it’s in the same department it might as well be the same color unless it’s an arff unit or something
