7-7-22 | OXNARD | 7:09AM | Oxnard Fire Department, Ventura County Fire, Federal Fire, and Gold Coast Paramedics were dispatched to an Hazardous Materials Response for containers of unknown chemicals fuming in the Gutter along Wooley Road just West of Patterson.
Units located four containers of chlorine and muriatic acid in the gutter. The along Wooley between Kelp Street and Patterson Drive was shut down by Oxnard Police while the incident was unfolding. Residences in the area were under a shelter in place order.
Two of the four containers full of chemicals were cracked which caused two gallons of the Chlorine and Muriatic Acid to mix and react. Hazmat crews suited up and made access to the containers to neutralize the mixed chemicals.
By 9:37AM the products were deemed neutralized by Hazmat officers and firefighters. No medical transports were made during the incident.
The shelter in place orders were quickly lifted after the products were neutralized and disposed of.
