Hillbilly's Toyota Trekker is a 1983 so it is old, it belonged to his Uncle who was kind of old school, he built it and he wanted his old school old truck to be blue, so...name it "Ol' Blue", the name would really fit the old truck. And put "Ol' Blue" decals on the doors and on the back tailgate, that would look cool.

That's a pretty color of blue. Blue has always been one of my favorite colors. Not a perfect paint job but then you didn't set out to make it perfect. It does look much better that it did before you painted it. Well done. Congratulations Hillbilly I hope you enjoy this pickup for a very long time.

This has inspired me to make and effort to get started on an 84 4Runner I've had for 12-13 years and have seriously neglected the last 6 or 7 years. It was my pride and joy and I got married to a wonderful woman with 2 adorable kids and they have taken priority in my life and this has taken a back seat. This has made me realize I'd rather have it in action far from perfect than continue to sit and rust with dreams of perfection. Awesome Yota Hillbilly! I love the family ties it comes with also. Awesome of the Laytons to take care of the people around them also! 👍 👍

I would like to put forth a idea to you Robby…I would like to see you guys create a tips and tricks channel for body work do-it-yourselfers. You pass on little tips here and there during builds but you guys do amazing work and feel many would love solid informative guidance for those with projects and wanting to learn more about the trade. You and your team genuinely love your jobs for the most part and make it look easy…which we all know is more to it than it seems. You and your team can contribute as a group or individually. Anything from sanding to metal shaping and all the way to painting and buffing. Your experience can guide and inspire a whole new generation of builders, restorers, and enthusiasts. Just a thought.

I love how much Hillbilly is with protecting his uncles vehicle. I probably never had the same closeness to any uncle/aunt. There is a massive difference in keeping the car, and keeping the personality, from the original owner. I love that Hillbilly wants to keep the personality, and that he chose to keep it unlike others. Side note: AG1 is expensive, and it is not the greatest taste (I add flavor), but it does help. I have been trying to better myself, and AG1 made me feel even better to the point that caffeine is rarely needed when I used to drink 2 energy drinks a day.

Very nice work, guys. The blue reminds me of Ford Admiralty Blue or Chevy Marina Blue. Love the metallic ! Take a look at the old Chevy Lyndale Blue (a silver blue) it is pretty cool too.

Paint protection film could be a interesting thing to show and protect the tracker. You could even just do the side panels to protect from rubbing trees vs doing the whole thing.

Paint protection is a clear film like the plastic wrapping that comes on your electronics it is a very real thing

@JIM HARDCASTLE on new cars and its often worse than anything as it delaminates or discolors etc and it doesn't protect the paint it is a new surface by any measure because a protector can be removed or it's not protective its replacement... also where do you suggest he puts it on this truck?! It'd be pretty stupid to do on a truck that will brush against boulders when it's made to keep shoes or people walking by from scuffing paint

Robby don’t even let the trolls faze you. I have almost fifty years in body and paint and I think you are one of the best in the business. The ability and talent you have is Gods Gift. And you maximize them. Your shop and equipment are state of art in the industry. And match the training you took. Your fit and finish is better than the manufactures. Which is how mine always was too. I learned on metal cars at 20 years old and had to use only hand tool for the first year. The only power tool were the spray guns. Then after a year he let me use power tools and trained me in frame and unibody crash repair on a Chief EasyLiner. Just like yours only we used gages then instead of lasers like yours. And I spent 10 years doing crash repair and restorations. And drag racing. Then I bought a 1967 Corvette and started working nothing but Corvette’s specializing in C1 C2 and C3s. And circle track racing. World of Outlaws. Late Models. I’m now 70 years old and still use my abilities to help my friends and myself. You and The Boss and your kids all working together with Hillbilly and your brother and others interact in interesting and fun ways. While putting out great educational and interesting content. I really enjoy your videos and consider myself a citizen in Robby Laton Nation. Keep up the great work and God Bless.

Fantastic!! My first vehicle was a 1980 toyota SR5 with a very similar color. it was a standard cab short bed 2 wheel drive with a 20r and it was usually packed with football players in the bed, back when it was legal to ride in the back. That truck was awesome! i remember rubbing shoulders on one side and rubbing the door on the other.

I'm sure you may have heard already... Don't use Windex, it has ammonia in it, and ammonia will break down the sticky part of your sticky window. It's great for taking off window tint, just use soapy water, then squeegee it out with something soft and rubbery it doesn't scratch up your window tint

Not normally a fan of silver paint but I gotta say that looked damn sweet, and that blue on Hillbilly’s truck turned out beautifully, think it was the right decision to leave the few whiskey dents, he inherited it from his uncle and even though you changed the colour you left the truck’s character. Can’t wait to see it with the replicated stickers on it. And I’m thinking you slap the new dancing shoes on that truck he’s going to love them.
