That fone foil quiver is as big as Grant's. His SK8 came, and it looked like a weapon but no wind here. Today 😳 . Your riding is looking sick inspired as always. Have a stoke filled weekend bud 😊

thanks Chris! I'm sure you all will love that sk8. I'd prolly keep sk8's and eagle X's in my quiver if I was all F-One. but I look forward to spending time on the other two! hope all is well and you get some wind soon! I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend!!

The 90 liter looks really good at shedding water off the nose when you bury it. Pops right up. That’s a good board trait.

yeah it's great for that. a lot of that was def me, not knowing exactly how the board floated and paddled right off the bat, but like you said, it did a great job of correcting my mistakes and didn't always totally kill my speed when doing so. it's a lot different that my 75L Armstrong ML, I like them both in different ways. but this one seems more forgiving without feeling much bigger. it's shorter than my 75L so it feels small. really interesting how FOne is ding a slightly different interoperation of the ML. I dig it.

Nice ... this week I orderd my pumpfoil .. you hooked me up... and on the way to buy as well a down wind board... Very nice seeing you without wind .. and strange without wing 🤣🤣.. much more work though ..isn´t it ?.. so the additional work is nice as the freedom without wing is better ? or the gliding and the lift back with the wing is better ?.. I get totally that you wanted try out gear and I would say you are really lucky to be able to test that all out ... keep up .. waiting for more ... have a good weekend

dude! upgrading is awesome!! stoked to hear you are going for it. I really do love the non-wind paddling, more waves than flatwater but I do like them both. I just don't do paddle videos cause I've been learning and don't have much to share except the same camera angles and frustrations. riding waves without the wing is amazing. the wings make it easier to play over and over and over, while the paddling feels like you are working hard for it so thus the rewards feel sweeet. I'm stoked the FOne gear worked so well! can't wait to ride more. I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend bud!!

I keep looking at F-one monoblock construction vs. my own Armstrong foils. It seems the eyes can't lie here: that Armstrong fuselage is looking pretty darn fat and I wonder if that's not a fundamental limitation of their system particularly as you go small and that fuse becomes proportionally more draggy. My first foil was a Phantom 1480. I think the fact that F-One sent me the wrong length hardware soured me a bit initially - and all that titanium sure looked appealing with Armstrong. But yeh - feeling like I'm spinning my wheels a bit bouncing between HA 925, MA 1000, HA 780 and really not finding the sensation I'm looking for. Rode a friend's sk8 1050. It was noticeably slower and less reactive than my Armstrong gear - felt a bit like my HS 1550 in some regards - but man did pumping it feel like I was pressing the accelerator. Looking forward to your comparative reviews in the coming days.

sup bud! some interesting stuff here. I def don't think of the Armie stuff as being fat. the FOne stuff is just a rectangular shape - one way it's fatter and the other way it's skinnier. I just compared and they have virtually the same circumference. farther back on the fuse, the Armie fuse is much smaller than the FOne. so maybe the smaller FOne foil-to-fuse transition is a lot smaller, but for the sizes I have, it's really close to Armstrong. it could be bigger. but maybe the rectangular shape is more hydrodynamic. I don't know. as for those 3 Armstrong foils and not finding the sensation you are looking for... those 3 act very different from each other. so if you don't like any of those, that says a lot of what you don't like. I think the 850 sk8 was a lot more fun that the 925, and I'm not sure if you watched it but I did a video where I chopped my 925 to the exact dimensions of the 850 (it has the same exact profile from the front) and it was great, just the wing tips were slightly fatter on the chopped 925. maybe try a major chop/file job? every one of the Armie foils came out right when I was looking for that in my progression. it was like they were making them for me and my evolving style. so I'm super happy with the new HAs, and not really interested in the v1s or the MAs anymore. that said, I did sell my 780 and prefer having an 880 and 680, cause they each do something unique and the 780 was too close in the middle. I'm not sure if you've tried any other sizes, you may wanna give that a try. I rode the 1150 sk8 in waves the other day with a 200 carve tail, it didn't feel slow for it's size, and man I did love that foil. longer drawn out carving, much different that my Armie stuff. but I know I'd be riding a lot differently and more aggressively if I had the 680 or 880 in those conditions. they were different. I like them both! but the pumping of the 880 is a lot more natural to me. what tail are you using with the 780? my favorites are the 140 and the 205. I'm not really using the 180 anymore. it's fine, I just prefer the other two. I'm excited to cover the foils more! this week I'm covering the ML board, maybe the foils after that. thanks for the comment, I wish you an awesome day!!

@@OCEANBOUND1 Interesting beta on the 925. I need to watch that video! I do need spend some time in my garage with the epoxy anyway and fix some dings in boards and foils - might take the opportunity to chop that 925. I have used the 140 and the 205 actually with the 780, but haven't kept great notes mental or otherwise. My 205 is one of the guys that probably needs a tune-up though, dings galore from some reef impacts near Margaret River, WA :| 🤔I might need to go back to the 60cm fuse actually. I found the 780 very twitchy to ride with that 50 cm and much more flowy on the 60cm. IIRC - this made more of an impact than the tail. Honestly, I find my perception between foils limited to: * How responsive is the foil. This kind of extends to pitch, yaw, roll. ("responsiveness") * How long, and how quickly does it project forward off wave or pump power ("pump"). * How well does it maintain speed in the water once depowered completely ("glide"). I have a share setup for friends that my 60 cm fuse has been relegated to and I'm too lazy to swap it out . Come to think of it, I like my a lot of my foils quite a bit more with that bigger fuse. Actually, with that 780 I found swapping tails impacted responsiveness, but didn't impact "projection" or "glide" as much as the fuse did - which seems counter-intuitive. I should dedicate a session to futzing with gear and taking notes. --- I was riding my MA 1750 today on the 50 cm fuse and 140 tail 😅in 8mph winds. Going to feel like a dog in booties for the first time when I get back on my normal gear here, conditions permitting.

@@jacobstr for whatever it's worth, I rode my 50 fuse for about a year, and then switched back to the 60. it made me a better rider, my pitch control was great. but the 60 is so much smoother, easier, and I felt the foils just rode better. the FOne fuses are longer than 60, even the XXXS I think is a little longer (but don't quote me on that). using the 50 with the 1750 makes sense to liven it up. but you'd be surprised what you can make the foils do, you just need to stomp a little harder or change up your footwork a little. I think if you change to the 60, you will feel more of the stab characteristics. I also ride all my stabs with +1.5 shims, it loosens them up a little and makes them faster, and you have to move your foil up in the mast track a little to compensate for less tail drag. everyone is different with stabs and whatnot, but I go back to zero shims now and I just can't deal with the drag. lol. anyway, great conversation here, let me know if anything gets better! I wish you a great day bud!

@@jacobstr lol I also want to be clear, the FOne stuff is awesome. ride what you like. Armstrong stuff isn't for everyone, I'm only giving you advice cause it's what you currently have and it's what I have and know.

Thats the ML Rocket? high demand for it here in Spain, wow what a quiver of foils, but one question do you not get a summer there?? looks freezing! 😂😂
@OCEANBOUND15 ай бұрын
Yes it’s an ML Rocket! 90L. 7 sessions in and it’s gonna be hard to give it back. Having an absolute blast on FOne stuff these days. Stoked! And I use a bunch of 2mm wetsuits, for warmth but also for sun. I don’t mind wearing them. It’s prolly low to mid 60s F around here in the water and I’ll get a chill if have a long sesh and don’t wear them.
