Finally! Rated Recovery Points for a Subaru!

In todays episode we check out the new rated recovery points by SubaXtreme! To my knowledge these are the first recovery points designs specifically for a Subaru. I'm also very excited to announce SubaXtreme has come onboard to support the channel!

They do seem kind of pointless given the loss of approach clearance In my case they offer less benefit over factory ones. Good to see you back mate,

I can see they are not for everyone. Knowing they are rated will be good and I’m just hoping because it’s a small hoop rather than a large object on the front that I won’t notice the decreased approach angle.

It's awesome that these sort of products are becoming available for us however like you said it would be nice to have a second option for cars with a front bar fitted so that the approach angle isn't affected as much! Great stuff mate, looking forward to the next video 👍🏻

I would love an alternative product where the hoops come out of the bumper higher up. I would rather make cosmetic adjustments to my bumper and keep the clearance.

Thanks for the rundown! Good details and looks like a nice unit even with the approach angle issues. Interesting the SubaXtreme bullbar doesn't have pull-rated recovery points built into it? Either way good to have an option and the double points mean you can rig a bridle to better distribute pull.

Hey thanks for sharing these! I've been looking for a better way to have safe recovery points for my forester as just in case. As I mainly use it on gravel/muddy roads and serious winter driving, I'm not too worried about the lessened ground clearance especially with the stock bumper still. I haven't found many others with these so I was wondering how you felt about them after a year and if they are still worth it in your opinion. Thanks from Canada!

They do hit the ground occasionally on trails but I’ve never been hung up on them. Realistically it’s a very small contact patch if it does. Also, Subaxtreme have started to redevelop these to allow for more ground clearance. They have re-designed a few already but might be worth asking if they have updated the recovery points for your model.

Love your videos mate, just installed these along with a subaxtreme bullbar and sump guard as well as a 2 inch subiliftoz lift. Im looking at 215/70/16 all terrains, any good tire suggestions?

Unfortunately there are not many to choose from in that size. BFG KO2 is the classic choice but is known to be a bit slippery on wet roads. The Hancock Dynapros seem to be a cheap but very underrated choice and I think Toyo make an A/T in that size as well. Unfortunately the well loved falken wildpeaks aren’t available in that size. (As far as I’m aware)

I was wondering if you've seen the sumo rocksliders for the sg forester and what you might think of them? Looks like a good upgrade for the sides of the car to me, but i just found out about them.

I like the shape of them and how they fit on the body. Not sure how thick the metal is so the actual impact protection is still questionable.

@@ignitionoffroad5028 according to their site the aluminum alloy ones are 1/4in thick and i think the steel ones are 3/16in thick. Sounds thick enough to me to provide useful protection. Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Tried that but doesn’t work. The bar at the front doesn’t fit if it is flipped.

I personally don’t have a lot of experience with the newer models but they are quite capable with more clearance and x-mode and stuff. Subaru’s are great on sand as is so I think it will work for you

Those look sweet, unfortunately they're not for me. With the steep ditches in my area, I would plant those fully into the ground and be stuck like a lawn dart lol

Subaxtreme is working on refining the product to provide more approach angle. I definitely hit them occasionally but it’s not as bad as I was expecting.

Admittedly that term was probably thrown around a little loosely. It is the biggest downfall to the design of the recovery points.
