So happy for you Shelby!! I know of another KZbinr who wanted to live in NYC, but decided he'd save money by buying a plane ticket and renting an Airbnb each month instead. I'd love to see you rent or renovate a vintage apartment, as they're so much cooler and more interesting than modern ones. LA ones also can have really cool art deco or Spanish features

My friends and I flew in to Seattle from Charlotte to see the concert. Beautiful city, the Queen Anne neighborhood was my favorite and Monica’s videos on Kerry Park were spot on The views of the city were immaculate! Congrats on deciding where to move.

Move to the Southbay! You can't go wrong with Redondo, Hermosa or Manhattan Beach. Close to airport, and a good central location. I agree with you about the year round sunshine, nothing compares and is why we always come back. Wish I had a family member close it would be a dream! Happy for you!

Most people who frequent or live in Downtown LA/Hollywood/West Hollywood/ Silverlake/Los Feliz have never even been to Manhattan/Hermosa Beach/Redondo/Marina Del Rey.. they are two completely different worlds. 🏖🏝 It's "inner city" versus "the beach"

I have been working from the couch over my desk just because it’s more comfortable (long term sitting without getting a backache. Plus one section of my couch does fold down to a tray table. I think moving to LA over NYC is much better in the long run since you would have family also in California and better year round weather.

Happy for you! I think you made the right choice. I was born and raised in NYC and love it so so much but don't live there anymore. While I love to visit and spend a few weeks there, I think you really need an aching desire for NYC to make the sacrifices of living there worthwhile.

You made the right decision! I honestly feel like you would have hated winter in NYC….I’m in Pa & winter is miserable & so long! It starts snowing anywhere from October until the end of March….you never know when it’s going to start or stop.

Good luck with the move Shelby! I think it was definitely the right decision :) Always go with your gut. Totally with you on the weather thing. I'm moving to San Diego in February for a year and a half (from Melbourne, Australia) and so excited for the weather, I love it there! Would also love to do what you're doing with the home renovation stuff someday, just need to find some friends or something who are into it, cause I have no idea what I'm doing haha. Looking forward to seeing your next renovation project whenever it happens, and also your apartment hunt. I love the South Bay part of LA (I'm a beach person), would be cool to see some stuff round there if you look in that area.

I previously guessed NYC just because you seemed hype about making a big change, but I definitely feel that LA is more your vibe, and having family (and a vacation home!) close by is a HUMONGOUS draw. Plus the weather, as you said. Good for you for realizing that your living situation had tainted your feelings towards LA the last time you lived there. I definitely agree on the weather.. I moved to SD from NY 10 years ago and the weather is the main the reason I stay... I also feel like you do get seasons in CA in the perfect way ie.. it gets cold enough for a sweater and boots but you can still go to the beach,... I will always miss the fall in NY and thankfully I have family in NY so theres always a reason to visit.

I lived in Queen Anne, Seattle for 3 years before moving to Colorado last year. Such a memorable 3 years to look back to, absolutely loved it minus the gloom :) My fav fav memory is going to Kerry park almost everyday hoping to see Mt Rainier, never got tired of that. The Highland Dr such a cool walking street going all the way up to the other end viewpoint. Loved the cute little downtown & all the cozy spots for coffee.

Congratulations! I am happy for you and you made a decision that is best for you. It does make sense to move somewhere where you are close to family. I know a lot of people hate on California, especially folks here in the south. However, moving somewhere is a major decision and you have to weigh the pros and cons and decide based on what is best for you.

I lived in LA County long ago and I left the state because it was becoming expensive, getting overcrowded and I hated the taxes and the bureaucracy. I grew up there and don’t get me wrong, the weather, the affordability and quality of life was my favourite things about the state back then. I simply couldn’t afford to live there today.

When your moved into your apt. Check out Santa Monica. They have smaller homes idea for one or two people and many are fixer uppers. Of course if you really want to get a good deal check out the San Fernando Valley. While you will pay less it will be farther away from downtown than you have previously been seen in. Good luck and remember GET EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE.
