I was going to say the same thing- don’t blame yourself. That’s actually a misconception. I had basal cell at 15 & never got tan. I had it again a few years ago. My dermatologist said it’s very genetic & fair skin/light eyes make it super common. Glad you got through it & look great now. It’s so scary to have them cutting into your face😳

Unfortunately you’re wrong. Sun screen is toxic. There’s nothing more healing than the sun. Vitamin d. melatonin. Much much more. People never in the sun get the most skin cancer. Farmers who are in the sun get less melanoma. More skin cancer happens on areas not getting sun. Skin cancer is lower in sunny countries. Look up pubmed. .

Even with consistent use of sunscreen you can unfortunately still get skin cancer.

Correct. I grew up in Florida and was never a sun worshiper yet I've had several Mohs surgeries. I am very light skinned from European parents. The cancer was not my fault and I consider my scars my badges of honor since thanks to those surgeries I beat cancer and others aren't that fortunate. 🙏

I feel self-conscious about the scar, but most people don't even notice it. I am thankful that the surgeon got all the cancer, which was most important.

I had no idea it could flatten your face! I noticed I started to look “off”. Went to my derm a couple weeks ago and he put just a little filler in! He said let’s wait about 4-5 weeks to see if we need to add a little more (it takes about that long to settle). I probably will opt to have a titch more in a few weeks. You know what? I just had MOHS surgery last Thursday and plastic surgery on Friday. I had Basil Cell Carcinoma right on the tip of my nose. Today is the first day I looked at my nose and it looks pretty bad. The plastic surgeon said it will take a year to heal and I will have a scar. I am so self-conscious about this especially the location of it. I live in Southern California and spent most of my summers laying out on the beach, sailing and never used sunscreen, so this wasn't a surprise. Tomorrow I get the stitches out and I am hoping it heals to a point that it is not so noticeable. I don't even want to go anywhere. Thank you for this video. You do what makes you feel good.

I'm also a skin cancer survivor (melanoma). Mine was on my back, but if it were on my face I would make the same choice as you. We women need to support each other, not tear each other down. You are lovely, inside and out!

Your worries are valid about people being critical. That is not something you can control, so that should relieve your mind a little bit. Even as an influencer on a public platform, it’s essential that you realize that you can “influence” and cannot “control” how others feel about what is completely YOUR business. Having said that, modern medicine, warts and all, is still a huge blessing. I’m so glad there was something available to help you address what was a big deal to you.

It's no one's business but your own. Please don't let anyone make you feel badly for doing what's best for you. You're beautiful.

Angela! I can't imagine why not to do it! Wouldn't most of us? Nothing wrong with looking and feeling your best, that's how you help all of us, by helping us see our best selves. Mine is squamous, I can count 5 scars so far - on my wrists, hands and ankle. Back in the day when I was a swimmer and swim teacher, no such thing as sunscreen. I'm glad they are able to do the procedures needed and my scars and story are good for me to teach younger folk why they need to protect themselves! I never really worried about the cancer much, just have to be vigilant. There are lots of worse things, that's for sure. I'm lucky!

Thank you for sharing something so personal. When I was in my 20’s I had the same thing basal call carcinoma on my cheek under my eye. Thankfully I had a good dermatologist. Mine wasn’t that bad or that big, because when it was removed it healed fairly quickly. I’m 63 now, and can say I can’t even see the scar anymore. I am glad you’re well. It’s a reminder to us that we need to take care of our bodies and our health. And, there’s nothing wrong with getting fillers, or Botox, etc occasionally to help look less tired, or something. Just keep making your videos because they make us happy. Shalom!

What a bright, joyful, positive person you are! I listened to your story on another podcast, and how you turned from struggle to possibility is an inspiration to us all! We just love and appreciate you! Thanks for sharing, but you don’t owe us an explanation! We appreciate your honesty, tho. We need to support one another as we recover from consequences of stupid choices in youth (and adulthood!🤣), from decisions born of ignorance or rebellion. There is so much to enjoy in each other and celebrate as we claim victory in our lives! Oh, how we get wiser with age!!! Younger ladies: Listen to us oldsters!!!

This is such a great video. It will help people know what’s available to change their appearance they’re not happy with. There’s so many amazing options to help people. I’m glad you’re ok and you look great! ❤

Angela, that's a positive use of fillers as opposed to some people today who overdo them and it's obvious they have.

Hi Angela. Thank you so much for sharing your story. As a 71-year-old woman, I can fully relate having had three Mohs surgeries on my face for the removal of basal cell cancer. I, too, had the incision from the base of my nose in the labial smile line down to the corner of my lip. Each time they took the skin graft from the same side of the face. Everything is all healed and not really noticeable. I do notice now that the incision between the nose and lip is looking different due to my aging. It never occurred to me to speak to my doctor about the changes, but your story today informed me that there are some things to be discussed and see what my options might be. Thank you so much again. When I pray I thank God for keeping me cancer free all the days of my life. I hope that you stay cancer free as well and have found something to make you feel better about yourself. You will always be beautiful to us.

Aw, I'm so sorry you had to go through that! You weren't stupid not to use sunscreen. Many of the toxic chemicals in it can potentially cause something worse! I'm glad you found a procedure that restored your skin. It looks great.

Omg…going thru this right now! Went for my yearly exam and she found three spots thankfully not on my face. Unfortunately it came back Melanoma on my upper arm and now have a huge painful scar. I also had it on my shoulder and now on my thigh. She did the Moh’s surgery on all three spots and pathology says she got it all. Still in the process of healing in three different spots. Sure makes sleeping uncomfortable. I was not very good with sunblock and if applied I never reapplied…big mistake! Please everyone don’t take your skin for granted use your sunscreen. I will have to be covered up this summer and use sunscreen even in cloudy days. Thank you for sharing Angela! Stay healthy😊 You are beautiful.

You’re beautiful & a survivor! I had melanoma 2 years ago on my knee. I have a big oval scar on my knee & I don’t let it bother me because I was lucky enough for it to be caught in time. People can look all they want!
