This might be your best one yet, immediately the vibe is and it's definitely compelling to watch. Also crazy to see just how well this game holds up, if only I could remember when it came out.

It's so good to have made critique video with legitimate points that isn't over 10 minutes. I'm glad you made it too, and I'm also glad that it's balanced by the positive points at the start. On the flip side tho, I do disagree with pretty much all the points. I was gonna write long ass explanations for each but then I thought I'd be better of making my own critique. still 1. Nah, they're about the right amount to get the best first time benefit. 2.The black ones should've been made harder in more visually believable ways, like adding evolved traits and very obvious physical differences but it's still better that they're there than not. The hordes are not manufactured (games are manufactured also, I hate that this a normal way to phrase this critique), they are the difficulty. They slowly add more enemies throughout your play through in a believable way for why you see more and more and it's one of the few skills the game can actually test as once you aim good it's really just resource management. 3. Nah. Though I think they could've done more to make it fit with the realism they went for. 4. Kendra was not in the right, she thought the marker would stop the hive mind. She was just a stupid, smug government fed who was so manipulative that she withheld the truth from Isaac up until the end because she thought it would make him easier to manage for the mission (even when she was leaving him to die, because what if he lived O_O). Though I would argue that it is important to know when it is the right time to talk about that kind of stuff since he really did need to be fully motivated or they'd all die, so get to know him, know when it will be safe for everyone to know. She showed it to him when she thought he was definitely going to die because she wanted him to give up the chase and she had run out of options, and as a fake "mercy" before his death ( a justification to herself no doubt, cause she's a realistic evil person). She saw what the government was doing, and somehow thought that continuing it would be fine and that all the evidence of the end of the universe was "manageable". She's a perfect idiot asshole character, she gets a karmic death and she's actually good at computers so she's balanced in a very believable way like a real professional. ( Her dementia ghost told her to put the marker back too, AND SHE BELIEVED THEY WE'RE TELLING HER THE TRUTH TO STOP THE HIVEMIND. She fucked everyone, I bet she killed her brother. She's unbelievable, and that's why she is believable). 5. He showed his face at the start and end. Player inserts is a silly point, it never killed my immersion or sense of control when Isaac was an actual person in 2. I think if the game makes you feel more like the character, there is some issue because when you sit down to play a game your kinda being schlub. It is more immersive in one way (I am in the universe), but for Dead Space it messes with other elements that push realism in universe (Isaac Clarke is a real person, look at all the hud he looks at) and so it really just depends on how you want to achieve immersion. And the (I am in the universe) idea is not very good for action games I think because no one is the doomslayer or mister halo and it becomes a more intense power fantasy than it already was which makes people think silly. Although I do like that they don't talk for other reasons. I mean doom guy should just never talk and Master Chief should talk very little as he does as to their character. Anyway, funny video and I hope my comment pushes your video in the algo.

Wow! Where to start? For one, thank you so much for the kind words, and more-so for the honest criticism of my criticism. This is the first critical comment I've received on a video so far, and I appreciate that you're civil while absolutely decimating my points lol. Point 1/3/5: Honestly think these are the most subjective points, there's not really a point (haha) for me to defend these because it's just up to whether or not you're willing to fight the same boss more than once, what you like about boss fights, and whether or not you felt you could fully empathize with Isaac by the end. Expanding on Point 2: The way I said this point made it seem like my perfect version of Dead Space would just plateau in difficulty mid-way through, then no tougher enemies or groups larger than 3 would show up, but in hindsight I should have expanded on this one A LOT more. My issue is less with the volume of enemies and shots they eat, and more with where these fights take place and how they're executed. The last area where you fight waves of enemies is a fantastically executed horde segment because you still have to worry about resources and precision, but the enemies are spaced out in waves and the arena is only as spacious as you make it by lowering/crossing the bridges. The horde segments I loathed playing through were the ones like I showed, where you're on a two-way catwalk being flanked on 4-sides by enemies you almost certainly cannot avoid regardless of skill. Both of these fights I would consider horde segments, but one is a cheap trap you can't avoid. Sure, it's definitely difficult, but it's not a challenge you can surpass with skill. (I do agree that phrases like "Manufactured Difficulty" make me look like I desperately want to work at IGN 🤢) As far as the black enemies go, I think the fact there is no visual indication that they're stronger, and they're just repainted black and arbitrarily tougher is what made me think it was lazy to add them, because I honestly don't have an issue with tougher enemies/bullet sponges in general. I think that maybe if they just added something like an outer-casing to their limbs/weak-points that acted as a better, more logical visual-indicator of their resistance to bullets, it would've gone a long way. I was wrong with Point 4: I was probably too passive with the narrative. I didn't take the time to listen to as many audio logs or text documents as I could have, and I should have paid closer attention to what I did listen to because I clearly missed a lot as far as Kendra's behavior/motivations go, which led me to make point 4 and not understand the gravity of her actions or death. So 2. was put too plainly and needed to be expanded and 4. was a result of me not grasping the full scope of the situation. I'll rescind those two lol :)

@@DansComputerNo, thank you being so legit. I'm sorry about my comment, I feel like it was computer brain. I should just make a video of my own or something. I feel like a bit crazy for it, because I mean imagine if you got comments like that all the time. I do think my points are good at least but was it really necessary for me to make a paragraph list on yt comment section, prolly not. This isn't like high academia or anything, it's chill vid for ppl to enjoy with your critical opinions out there. lmk if this is like some bipolar ass comment and my comment wasn't that bad. I didn't add it because I didn't think to as it was so seamless but the editing is hella clean (especially the video structure other than maybe the end bit) and the points being bullet points is actually great for the idea to spread and be used. even so, I gotta reply cause your response is really nicely written. I did play the game 10 times or sum shit so that's prolly why my opinions on the game r so "developed 🧐" like with point 4. I p much agree with the general sentiment of your points tho (apart from 4 of course) and I think it is a good thing that people try to make intelecttual critiques of media for it to actually imporve and create something useful. Especially coincise ones, these long ass 4 hour critiques often raise the same points but worse and with no deeper insights. And there probably needs to be discourse like this but I realise now that the yt comment section may not be the ideal format. I need to spread this idea somehow of like, needing too establish your expectations or want of a game and suggesting alternatives when raising critiques but idk, it's games so maybe it will be forever cursed. 2 Eh, it works I think. It's tense and you gotta micro manage your sides. Originally the game was supposed to have a 180 rotate button so that's probably why those sections kinda feel like they're cheating you because the devs sandwich you and you've gotta be really fast but I think only the marker room is the one where damage is unavoidable. And I think that's fine, losing to unfair odds sucks but those sections aren't overly hard if you position yourself well (definitely raged more on the colony myself on impossible, tho my loadout was fucked). It's just that gamer feel of fucking up a while ago by choice of where you stand and then having pretty much zero control but to watch your doomed fate even tho the controller is still in your hands. No one likes it but I think its more of an issue of not understanding the solutions to problems, hell in uni when I was getting frustrated was usually when I was learning the most. That's why the best games I played just aren't fair like commercial games, forcing you to use all your mental faculties to make them become level with you again. So I guess even the 2nd point depends on your basis for what you want from the game as well. Thanks for responding so sincerely, the intelectual integrity is respectable.

@@isaacckre741 @isaacckre741 Don't be sorry, I want to encourage discussion wherever I can and the fact my video (as short and joke-focused as it is) was able to provoke a response as detailed, honest, and passionate as yours is better than any view-count or like/dislike ratio could ever be. Honestly, if I could have things my way every comment would disagree with me and be 3+ paragraphs long, because that would mean the video was more than just me screaming into the void about an old game. And I also HIGHLY encourage you to make a video if you have the time. Regardless of visual quality or ediitng prowess, any video with drive behind it is a video I'm 100% here for. Also yeah, I think people should strike a balance between chill/critical when they talk about games. Disagreement, passion, and critical thinking are healthy for a productive discussion, but at the same time awareness of the topic at hand is too. And when we're talking about video games that were made to be fun, then we should be having fun when we talk about them. And I think we both accomplished that here. Also Also, I highly value being concise and articulate so people can actually understand and digest what I say, so I think I'm completely incapable of making one of those 4-hour critiques even if I wanted to. They're usually just shallow lakes, I'd honestly rather make deep puddles. Anyway, I don't want to go drag you on and on just listing off my opinions (that's what my videos are for!), I'll just keep it simple and say thank you, you're welcome, and cheers! 🍻
