This game is getting ripped apart on steam (23% positive). It's not even listed under steam VR in the new & trending section. Had no idea it even came out until I saw this video. Can't seem to find any reviews of it online either, despite coming out yesterday

How should it look? You go in swinging your sword and killing guys from behind, what is so boring about that? I honestly don't get the negative reviews, from what I have seen. I haven't played it yet, but in 2D it looks decent.

​@@mitcherny6965Killing them from behind is boring itself and has a lame animation. If just swinging a sword around is fun then I can have more fun going outside with a stick. You can see that in this gameplay he's just spam swinging his swords most of the time and the enemies barely react and easily die. Even when you give them the handicap of not spam swinging the animations are repetitive and beyond easy to predict. They look more like animations that would be in a non vr fighting game. Of course good games like battle talent and blade and sorcery have predefined animations too, but they aren't always simple to read.

@@someonerandom9939 You have a point. I guess I'm one of those people who don't think the game is ALL about combat. There are plenty of games with crappy combat but they are awesome nonetheless. The samurai setting, stealth, audio, wolf companion all make this game decent, even if you are picky about predefined animations and "boring" stealth.

The combat looks better than assassin's creed vr to be honest. I wish we had assassin's creed parkour mechanics with arashi sword combat then we would have a masterpiece. Sword combat in VR is notoriously shit in most vr games except a very select few

game seems pretty well done for a vr title with JP voice acting, good graphics and all, but killing the bad guys looks so dissatisfying, the parries dont feel connected at all and the hits just fly right through with no feedback. A lot of potential wasted here, very disappointing.

Parries do connect great. It's actually very satisfying getting into combat now and then because of the rush of challenge/risk and the joy of getting a well timed parry and counterattack...

I really liked the intro, explaining your interest etc.. Shows how you engage with the topic which is great and the video in general was nicely made but I completely miss a critical part where you also talk about weaknesses that you experienced. Seems like you would be perfect to criticize this game since you know a lot more than me about this topic. In your video the game looked fun so I clicked the link and I read like 30 reviews and 25 said this game is horrible (very bad at least) making me wonder if you didn't tell the whole truth? or maybe your experience just differed from many others? However it feels really weird that you didn't pick up on a single problem and whats left is a kind of "sell out" taste, if you can follow me. I saw that you really enjoyed the game and I loved that but I think the video just doesn't tell the whole story which in my opinion is the whole point of reviews. I want your opinion, what you liked and even more what you didn't so I can make a decision whether to buy this game or not. I understand that a you don't want to scare off a sponsor but this makes me sad cause I really like you guys :(

dude, the game is awesome. Stop taking heed from the gang of minigame shills that controls the VR niche market with their fake takes. They all work for indies creating BS minigames and tech demos and crap over all big games that come to VR - including AC, Hitman, Asgard's Wrath etc. The only reason you don't see them much in AC or AW2 is because there's a lot more actual gamers playing those well known and well regards titles than small indies like Arashi, the haters have much more voice here...

UE5.3 hasn't been out long, also has a lot of VR support and is making it where any game designed in it can easily be designed into VR. If I had to guess, there's probably a lot of VR titles in the works. I'd give it about another 2-3 years before graphics and VR gaming become insane.

I don't know who this developer hurt, but they sure have a scary gang mob after them. I don't want to enter into that stupid feud, but the game itself is one of the few good swordfighting action-adventure actual games made for VR - as opposed to the tons of wonky physics ragdoll-chopping short tech demos out there. Maybe these are the mobs after them...

the gameplay itself is good. the game is much more challenging than assassins creed. But the mechanics............. came from the last vr era. The tree? The sword goes right through it. Your short sword? Also, through and through it. Inventory opens at the push of a button, not by taking off your backpack. Weapons are glued to your hands, you can't move them wherever you want, whenever you want. Archery - ground thrust doesn't affect arrows. Lots of bugs, but they're more amusing than critical. (For now, because I haven't played much yet. E.g. I threw the ball through the wall at the very beginning, and the dog stuck its head through the wall and looked for it there. Despite these things, the game is still worth playing. But the question is whether it is worth the price, because it is not polished at all.
