My first time watching The Nightmare Before Christmas! (1993). OK. This is a musical? And a darn good movie to boot! Definitely easy to see why I heard so much about this one growing up, it is indeed a true classic of the genre. I hope you enjoyed my The Nightmare Before Christmas! movie reaction & commentary

Good evening !. You can also watch "James and the Giant Peach". It was directed by the same team in 1996. It is based on a book written by Roald Dahl in 1961.

Danny Elfman was also Jack's singing voice. His speaking voice is Chris Sarandon - Humperdinck from The Princess Bride.

A little spookiness is part of the Christmas holiday. Even if you don’t come from a background that included the Krampus, there’s a mysterious supernatural figure coming to your house in the night and MAYBE finding you worthy of gifts. There’s stories like It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol. There’s the long, dark, cold nights of the season. I love just a touch of the spooky in my Christmas.

Despite being called "Tim Burton's", while he was creatively involved, he didn't direct it. He had his hands full with Batman Returns at the time, so he had Henry Selick direct. Selick would go on to direct James and the Giant Peach as well as Coraline. I like to refer to TNBC as Tim Burton's AND Henry Selick's.

I remember watching this as a kid with my mom every Halloween. I'm now 21 and still, every year on halloween my mom and I have a date to watch it. It's a tradition that I really cherish.

"Just because I cannot see it, doesn't mean I can't believe it!" Fun Fact: Tim Burton has said the original poem was inspired after seeing Halloween merchandise display in a store being taken down and replaced by a Christmas display. The juxtaposition of ghouls and goblins with Santa and his reindeer sparked his imagination. Music Enthusiast Fact: In Oogie Boogie's Song, there was a story boarded sequence where bugs came out of Oogie's eye and danced on his arm before he belches them off. It was removed from the film because it was considered difficult to make miniature armatures for all the bugs. Another scrapped scene involved his shadow dancing on a rotating orange background and was traditionally animated but ended up being cut for timing. Despite this, the lyrics during these scenes were included in the film's soundtrack. Math Enthusiast Fact: A crossed-out calculation on Jack's blackboard seems to equate 3 times the square of pi multiplied by 12 to Christmas Day (a Santa hat). The true numerical answer is approximately 355.31. If the decimal portion is dropped, this then equates to December 21st, the 355th day of the year--hence the crossed-out equation. December 21st however is the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere (winter solstice). It is also the birthday of Jeffrey Katzenberg, the film's executive producer and most often credited for turning Walt Disney Studios and its animation division around after joining in 1984.

not sure if you got the party about taking off your head to recite Shakespearean quotation... but that's a reference to Hamlet who talks to a prop skull during the play as he remembers poor Yorick. Jack's head being a skull... he's got the prop locked and loaded.

Alas poor Yorick from Hamlet, is where Hamlet talks to a skull, that's what the 'Shakesperian quotation' bit of 'Jack's Lament' is referring to...

An instant classic - such a creative and fun film - Burton's dark mix of humor and horror is blended so well w/Danny Elfman's sweet score and Henry Selick's stellar stop-motion animation is a Christmas miracle. So much fun. Glad you dug it Chris - Merry Christmas! *If you haven't make sure to see EDWARD SCISSORHANDS another Christmas Burton/Elfman collab. w/Johnny Depp. And yes Sally is the heart!

Actually, if you look closely, it's NOT always night in Halloween Land. The days are usually cloudy and and whever the sun is up, it's bascially a big glowing pumkpin.

If you look on KZbin there are live concerts that they do with many of the original cast, though it has been a few years. Danny Elfman still sounds exactly the same! I believe the last concert was in 2021 and Billie Eilish played Sally. Sally is originally done by Catherine O'Hara (Schitt's Creek, Home Alone, Beetlejuice) and there is a concert with her - she also voiced one of the trio of children, Shock. :)

Stop motion and the traditional ink and paint are my favorite animation to watch. Love Corpse Bride and Fantastic Mr. Fox and the very recently released Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro. It's nice to hear Danny Elfman sing in a movie, and not just work behind the scenes. He was also a singing skeleton in Corpse Bride.

I am an absolute SIMP for Tim Burton and Danny Elfman. Beetlejuice spoiled me for life. His stuff just resonates with those of us who are all just a little odd or different and it’s almost like this bridge of communication for us to the normies. I’m new to your channel and haven’t gone through your catalogue of content yet, but I very much recommend Tim’s two Batman movies, especially the sequel, Batman Returns. Michelle Pfeiffer deserved an Oscar for her cat woman. That’s not even mentioning Danny Devito. If you haven’t seen them, you’re doing yourself a disservice
