David is a narcissist and Rita is an enabler. I would've left as soon as they started mocking about cleaning the house and doing the dishes with that level of disrespect. Rita knew also that if she continues with this charade, she will lose everything.

If any small disagreement is enough to make you divorce instead of just manning up and communicating well, then you should really think more about the whole situation. OP knew about the whole thing and chose not to communicate with his wife, while her, on the other hand, was being stupid and also chose not to communicate. She messed up really badly and the fault of the situation is all onto her, but OP not communicating also doesn't make sense. What he should've done was saying this and that and that if she didn't value him as family and continues to disrespect him like that than he will file for divorce, then if she still bitches about it then just divorce without looking back.

@@FrutoseDeMorango good points but this is definitely not a small argument! Like she keeps fighting with OP for treating the house like it was his because it was HIS. Honestly I bet if she had to choose between OP and her slob Brother, she'd choose the latter . Which is quite disrespectful.

You had a multitude of red flags before you married Rita . You are a distant second to her brother, she made a unilateral decision to bring 4 people into your home to live for an extended period of time, you are not a couple. Get a spine throw them out , get a divorce this is not going to work.
@ianimations16562 ай бұрын
Dawg, when someone feels so vehemently about something that they tunnel vision on your location as soon as they walk into the house so they can start screaming at you as soon as possible, then they aren't gonna realize everything they did wrong in the span of a week and on top of that actually admit it and apologize. It's a rarity for ANYBODY to ever feel like they did anything wrong, and with the way the bil and sil had their claws in her, their is no way she would have just immediately swapped sides like that. The end of this felt like such a stereotypical disney happy ending, how does anyone believe this?

This! There have been two toxic men in my life who were determined to undermine all my efforts to have any meaningful relationship with men. And both of these men gave me vibes like they saw me in a more than family kind of light. They knew it was taboo to go there so it felt like to them the only other option was to keep me single and a virgin for the rest of my life. It’s kind of gross to say it out loud but it’s true. I eventually had to cut them off. And I feel like that’s what David was trying to do. I think he loved his sister a bit more than a sister and that’s why he couldn’t be happy for her being married.

Rita's really playing with fire. If the house belongs to OP ,she would had been kicked out and divorce. Not to mention her lack of communicating when OP tried to explain his side of story ,she refused to listen. OP is also sort of at fault. He allowed his BIL to disrespect him ,allowed them to live at his or Rita and His shared house and didnt do anything other than ask BIL and Erica to clean. And he allowed Rita to just crawl back into his house and go to therapy like therapy is going to solve everything. In my point of view ,Both OP and Rita are at fault and responsible for their own mistakes.

@alexverg47872 ай бұрын
Damn! I ready to bet, that everyone who talking about leaving over something like this never had a family or stable relationships before. Every normal family should be based on compromises, and if you think that EVERY mistake should let to breaking up then you probably shouldn't have any marriage in future (because obviously it will ends pretty quickly). She messed up and messed up BIG by not talking about inviting her brother, ignoring op's opinion and starting a fight over something that op rightfully did. She messed up but she realized it and SHE made steps to mend things, because of realization that she is in wrong here. She pretty much sacrificed her relationship with her brother for her family's future (and yeah you probably cannot understand her attachment to her brother because you never been in her shoes). Op sacrifice part of his dignity to makes thing work. And this is what called a healthy family. Family is about both sides' sacrifices. Of course there are some unforgivable things such as infidelity, one-sided decision of abortion, attempt to babytraping etc. This are solid reasons to breaking up. If you or YOUR PARTNER are not ready to sacrifice something for relationship than you shouldn't continue this relationship and of course marry each other. And that's why you shouldn't ever asking any advice on reddit. Their only advice would be "leave relationship immediately" even if you made a minor fight about in which restaurant you should dine. Also remember that in this post you get only one perspective on things. Op doesn't usually right just because he/she is op. He/she may avoid some details that may paint them as not that good people (op which wife cheated on him never will mention that he beated her regularly throughout the whole relationship. That will make this story about two evil pity human beings). Also if this is a post about fight (like in the video) op couldn't mention all good things they made to each other just because it is might seen irrelevant to the story. So NEVER jump to conclusion so quickly and make an advice. Maybe I am wrong from your culture's perspective, but in my culture family is about compromises that we made in the name of love. Good day to everybody.

This comment is like a breath of fresh air. I’ve been thinking these things but not saying them out loud because I know people will just fight with me. Honestly I would not want to be friends or in relationships with any of the people in the comments because they think if you want to fight for the people you love you are a doormat. The only right choice in their minds at the first sign of trouble is to light a match! My husband and I laugh at a lot of the “helpful” suggestions on reddit because those are more insane than the posts asking for help. lol
@R.DeMoraАй бұрын
Not even being consulted about inviting people to live at the house you live, pay, and maintain for, is one of the highest forms of disrespect and it speaks volume of how littler partnership is in that relation. The fact OP even allowed it makes him a doormat.
@BrightElkАй бұрын
@@R.DeMoraNo one said it was okay to do those things. But if you love someone enough to marry them you should have some willingness to work through your problems. A lot of people on KZbin or reddit are immature teenagers and raging arrogant early 20's somethings. Once people start having kids they tend to drop off because they don't have as much time to be online. That youthful age range generally likes to just burn things to the ground as soon as it gets rough. But people are flawed and you aren't going to get very far by following reddit relationship advice. I know it sounds great when you're reading these dramatic KZbin videos because the revenge just sounds and feels so nice but that's just not a healthy life perspective. But you want to let SCORCHED EARTH tell you how to live your life you go for it!

OP, while I am glad you were able to patch things up with your wife, you still deserved a smack to the noggin when I heard you got hitched to her after 3 years. Too soon, mate, which is how you fell into this trap set by your in-laws. I think I know where the BIL's entitlement comes from: age (he's 35, OP's 31), and cause he's been the caretaker for so long, it does have that effect of expecting respect to be given to you on a silver platter, proverbially speaking. Hence, why he thinks he can flex around on OP as well as taking these pot shots. OP pushing back more or less exposed his true self as a controlling manipulator, given the lengths he went to break up OP's marriage, and when that failed, the silent treatment to his own sister, thinking he can sway her back to his side. My advice for these situations is always the same: low or no contact, and put some distance between yourselves if possible.
@BrightElkАй бұрын
3 years of dating is too soon? I swear the internet wants to wait until people are old and grey to get married. Wait just long enough that your wife is gonna need IVF to conceive because she's going through menopause! It's the perfect strategy!
