Finalmouse Starlight-12 Phantom Medium Wireless Mouse Review

I'm a claw gripper and love the shape of the Finalmouse and it is my endgame mouse. I used the Superlight before and would very often feel the mouse too big for my claw grip, and the hump at the back hurt my hand in longer sessions, something which does not happen with the Starlight at all. All in all, they're 2 very different mice and just because you like the Starlight doesn't mean you'll like the Superlight.

I agree that the superlight isnt the best shape for claw, i had the same issue. I had it for a week and it would cramp up my hand and i play aggressive claw. I have the pegasus and its way more comfortable to grip than the superlight.

@@santiclause18 Yup, I used it for almost a year because of just how good of a mouse it is and there wasn't anything else on the market (just got a Phantom on the drop a month ago), but it would always force me into a palm grip.

I doubt the SL-12 Medium shape is "endgame" for many claw grippers. It's fairly obvious that the two mice are different exactly as I describe in the video. You didn't quite understand my point, for most people, the GPX and SL-12 Medium could be interchangeable. They will feel different but after a month or two of consistent use you are fine with both of them. There are so many variables, even mental aspects to how good you "feel" a shape is for you, which can make or break your experience with a mouse especially if you don't use it for a longer period. It'd be senseless to recommend for someone to buy the SL-12 Medium instead of the GPX on a KZbin video, where there is no context about the viewer.

I have both the starlight 12 phantom and the g pro x, and I agree with pretty much everything in this video. I did add grips to both mice to both increase comfort and grip while holding them. The starlight 12 medium feels noticeably smaller in my hand than the GPX and for my large-ish hands I prefer the bigger size of the GPX. GPX also has lighter clicks which I prefer. I also agree the stock mouse feet on the starlight 12 are superb.

I feel like mouse shape is ultimately what it comes down to. I had the GPX and did enjoy it but never thought it would be endgame. Felt a little too wide since the sides don’t come in very much. I fingertip grip so the starlight feels at least 2x better than GPX for that. Also at 13g or so lighter I can definitely feel that difference. Overall the weight, shape, and click feeling (GPX all clicks feel kinda mushy) I think this mouse is without a doubt the best on the market for me.

In Eu prices for this are 316€ because of VAT is around 80€ but in CAD and USA it will cost 230€ so for USA/CAD it is probably worth it but for EU not so much. Even tho I bought it for 316€ + handling fee + shipping fee so 345€. I had GPX but didnt like the size but loved hyperx pulsefire haste so I think this shape is going to be perfect. Probably will be my last mouse I just keep repairing it when there is no longer warranty, but ofc I will contact Finalmouse if it breaks.

I'm thinking about this mouse, I'm playing mostly cs go and want to play very competitive. I got an UL2 already, think that the shape is insane, I like also the size (17.5cm hand) with aggressive claw and fingertip so it's perfect with the mouse. The sensor 3360 is old with its 500hz but it performs very well, click latency is also good. Using stock feets on qck+ and don't need to change for corepads only if stock's just died. I've had tested the g pro superlight and after 2/3 days I'm starting to feeling that I am hitting sometimes better shots than with the UL2 before but I'm thinking about the UL2 and starlight 12 because the superlight is a little bit too big. I mean even with 125mm compared to 116mm of UL2 and 17.5 hand I can still perform well on fingertip grip but the question is, I'm having the perception that the superlight is better even if I didn't like the size and I don't know if it's because of the wireless/feets (some people say superlight got bad feets)/sensor? I never used and gaming wireless mouse before but I can't get myself a starlight to "test and compare" because then I will not be able to return it after testing it out. You can help me with this question? Idk about the costs of the starlight just want to know the UL2 or starlight are better options if I claw aggressive or fingertip the mouse and prefer small one with shape and like that. Don't know why I'm feeling a little bit better performing with the superlight. Because of the wireless or sensor? Everything on the UL2 feels better to me even the feets are nice like on the superlight.

haus, if u do the firmware update(v1.2.6), btl grip tape, infinity mice hump (when you put on the hump and tighten up the screws a bit will fix the rattling issue).

Just got the Hati S Wireless with 3370 sensor and updated frame and it’s a beast and build quality is actually great! Still wouldn’t mind a small Phantom, GPX Superlight is kind of big for my hand size and grip so I don’t love it for gaming.

On my unit this rattle looks like it comes from the sensor. With a little pressure on it, the rattle disappears for a while. About the clicks I agree 100%, they could be a little lighter.

I've had my phantom for about one and a half months, and I can say that the breaks do break in. They feel lighter than my ultralight 2 at this point.

hey @hausgaming i just discovered your channel and i love the videos you do! I wanted to ask you if you can help me choose a new mousepad for me. I have a Model O Wireless with stock feet and with weight reduction to 58g I almost only Play CS. and have a eDPI of 900. I dont think i play with much pressure towards the mousepad at any time. Right now I only played with a Puretrak Talent and I wanted to try out something different with more control, I will test out a focus 3 and a GSR Tommorrow to have a bit more comparison. (I will update after i testet them) I gathered a list of Potential Mousepads : GSR GSR SE GP4 Black Odin Eclipse X-raypad Equate Zero Soft/ Saturn? Xtrfy GPZ1 Gamesense Radar Aqua Control 2 Havu Kuusi 6mm wich do you think should i try first ? The GPW/GPX clicks get loose and develop a lot of wobble for most people who use fingertip and click a little bit deeper. Unfortunately this is an issue since the first GPWs due to the lack of structure for the main buttons (nothing holding them in place or narrowing the descend of the plunger). GPX is a great mouse yes, but the clicks are absolute garbage for anyone who clicks even a little deeper.

@@hausgaming I’ve had 6 gpw and 3 gpx. All of them developed wobble. It affects fingertips mostly. I loved the shape so much that I kept trying. I mean deeper really. Fingertip grip has nothing to support the fingers so the grip pressure specially in tracking is done at the front and sides of the mouse. For claw it’s not usually an issue as you have your knuckles sitting at the back or middle of the mouse.

Hey Haus, great video on the Starlight its to small for me but I hope you could help me. I have a ec1 but I play claw with palm on mouse I'm stuck between the ZA12c and the ZA11c. I have 21x11 cm hands any suggestions?

i got the za12c i feels to small for me, getting it refunded i back on the xm1r also the mouse wheel on za12 is awful so damn loud, i prefer the burst pro over that za12-c but prob the xm1r over both of these i got same size hands, the best fitting for me was the g403, and sabre pro and the xm1r wasnt too bad after a while it feels the palm support is a bit lacking on it but its ok, and the g403 felt good but on heavy side compared to those sabre pro not fan of the button clicks or the software ethier

Starlight-12 > GPX any day of the week. I don't understand how that potato shape is at all 'safe' as people say, personally. There are better shapes for cheaper, and once the M42 wireless comes outs, it's going to be a no-brainer for small/medium handed claw/fingertip users.

SL12 and M42 shapes are designed more towards a niche than the GPX shape is. The great thing about the GPX is shape is that it fits so many people. The thing about shapes is that it's hard for you to know when a shape is REALLY not for you and when you are not just used to it.

@@hausgaming Very true. I suppose the point I wanted make is that gripping styles for the GPX can be described as AVERAGE across the board - but not the best for a single type. I would very much rather a XM1R/M42 for claw, an Outset AX for palm and something like a SL12 or a Hati S for fingertip.

My aim is off, and I play at 800dpi with 1000hz; usually one another mouse I would have put at 500hz, but I had to try to lower in-game sensitivity, and it was not working at all, so after that, I said, well, let me switch back to the g pro super light, and I was set. I hate this mouse because of how they choose to sell it - with group buys for hype. Availability issues kill it for me. I will never go out of my way to get one so it might as well not exist. I'm not paying over msrp and I'm not going to wake up at 3am to spam F5 on some webpage for a shot at one. I just hope a copycat company does the same thing but cheaper and with more availability - Logitech, corsair, hyperx, glorious, razer, etc all need to get on top of this ASAP

finalmouse isn't as big as logitech or razor. you have to understand that when realizing that they are making plenty of them. they are even dropping another colorway of s12 very soon. this means even more people have a chance to get one and I'm assuming resell will be even lower than phantom unless they make it a more limited drop amount.
