Women's Ashes Daily, Only Test, MCG Day 3: Alana King's Ashes. That is the only conclusion, after a final day of fizzing leg breaks and endless pressure, bowling from the Shane Warne Stand end on her way to the honours board. Sophie Ecclestone also had her moment, toiling hard in an outmatched team. It ended with intrigue and a dose of hilarity in front of an even-more-world-record crowd, and now the mighty MCG is home again only to the seagulls.

Izzy should be involved in any review that England conducts. Even as an observer to the process and what the players have to say. She is an absolute cricket badger (l think that’s what it’s called in her part of the world). It’s not an Aussie summer without her nowadays❤️

I was watching the commentary on Cricinfo with both tests. There were discussions on which Australian team would win first. It was getting quite tense. Actually it was romantic because Healy and Starc are married. I bet there was a bit of competition there. Thanks Izzy for your commentary. I was hanging out to hear this one. Australians cricketers play for each other. I think this is why they are so good. Ya don’t let down ya mates.

It has been great watching King's bowling. There is a gap between the sides, but if England work hard on fielding and running they could really narrow the gap. The great thing about fielding and running between wickets (other than slips fielding where a lot is about speed of reflex) is that unlike batting and bowling, almost anyone can be coached into being a very handy fielder, or an aggressive, capable runner between wickets. To a large degree it is less about talent than the other parts of the game. Bob Simpson really honed in on this to turn a talented but underperforming group into an increasingly competitive side.

Thanks for the series coverage folks. I don't think it's too controversial to suggest that the best team won. Australia are an outstanding side and that was the most important factor in deciding how the series went. It's the manner of the defeat which is disappointing, and should prompt a bit of reflection.

Bro what there’s just a gulf in quality that’s all.Australia investment in women’s cricket was around 500 million whilst England was no where near.The Aussie women earn upto 800 thousand whilst the England ladies only upto 130,000.England women last won the ashes 11 years ago and the last time they beat Australia in a icc knockout match was in 2009.Theres just more investment in the women’s game in Australia

If England could catch the test may have been much different. The Aussies would have stilll won imo, but it would have been much different without a 300run first innings lead. Time to get professional England.

I have a question Who is England's best Allrounder? Tony Greig, Sir Ian Botham, Andrew Flintoff or Ben Stokes. Just curious.
@sinclairwhitbourne2090
@sinclairwhitbourne2090 5 күн бұрын
Stokes when he is fit but that brings in Bunter and Greig. Greig might get in for ability to generate consistent returns without long injury or extra-curricular issues. Stokes and Botham for impact are hard to separate and coming from very different eras doesn't help.

Surely this tour should have played T20's first, then at least England would have a taste of the longer game in one-dayers before the test? Predictably over in 3 days. England's middle order gave up, at least Sophie showed some resistance after her 5 fer. Bell was great, Sciver-Brunt a poor tour and bowling only 15 overs here. Knight should stay but at least 3 players' future in doubt.

This is to the poms..come back when you have a more competitive team. You'll don't deserve to come to Australia shores until then. And especially knight. You are done with cricket. Your captaincy was uninspiring, timid and stupid at times.
@sinclairwhitbourne2090
@sinclairwhitbourne2090 5 күн бұрын
This is to kartikantheti5690 - what a miserable piece of crap you just tossed out. So easy to hop on the keyboard and put out rubbish when you are safe from comeback. I didn't see you out there. Knight has been and is a terrific cricketer. Take her out and this side really lacks the very thing you say you want. There are legitimate criticisms that can be made of her leadership, but you manage to miss doing that by deciding to be a keyboard warrior of the lowest kind.

By this logic the game will never grow as the only competitive team will be India and South Africa and even then most games will be won by Australia
