Cost accounting is a subset of managerial accounting. CA focuses on costing. MA is the wider category that includes costing but also deals with non-financial data such as quality information or customer satisfaction, which can be important for decision-making. Moreover, MA deals with such topics as budgeting, planning, decision-support, motivating employees and managers, and reporting to managers.
