You were our inspiration for us to go diving. It just amazes us each time we go, how much is thrown away & goes to landfills. Last night, we ended up with 8 milk crates of food that had nothing wrong with it. Dates are a week to 2 months ahead and no recalls on it. No open packages. The eggs were organic free range, 7 cartons, but each carton had a busted egg in it. How much are those eggs?? $6.00 a dozen? Pizzas... we had 4 that night. Deli meat and sliced swiss cheese. Sour cream, cottage cheese, 2 cases of yogurt. Precut, Ceasar salad bowls, a whole box. Sweet butter, salted butter, Organic kale bags, 2 bags of potatoes, 2 bags of onions. Bananas...why do they throw out so many bananas? Most of the bananas were organic. Tri color sweet peppers, seedless cucumbers, 4 bottles of Starbucks pumpkin spice latte coffee (still had a month on it perfectly fine seal), organic bagged spinach, grapes, strawberries, garlic bread in sealed bags, 12 bags of skinny Multigrain sandwich rounds, brioche bread, sourdough bread, steaks, 85/15 ground beef patties, 93% ground chicken packages, kambucha drinks, seasoned pork loin roasts. Everything was still cold. 2 packages of work gloves, each pack had 6 sets in it. Scrap metal. The metal we scrap every month, we save to put it towards our property taxes. Every bit helps, and it's saved from the landfills. Ulta boxes are excellent boxes to use for moving or for storage. They are the perfect size and sturdy. You can always find bubble wrap at 5 Below. What bothers me the most is when we get the meat packages that there is nothing wrong with it. Animals died, so people can have protein, and their parts are just tossed away... their lives meant nothing. THAT is a sin. We are just one family that dives, and we save so much from going to the landfills. We take the lettuce and veggies that are not looking that great because I chop it up and give it to our worm bins including all banana skins. The worms turn it into compost for our gardens. The egg shells we rinse off and dry, then crush and powder it for our gardens. We try not to waste anything. We give stuff away, too, like those bananas. We picked up an entire case of organic bananas. One of our neighbors is a widow in her 60's. She doesn't drive. I take her to the food bank once a month. So when we get this much food, we share it with her. Food bank food can only stretch so far and they don't give much fresh meat. That pork Loin for her will be at least 3 meals. Gave her 2 bottles of Starbucks coffee, a pizza, ground chicken packs, a steak, bag each of potatoes and onions, butter, cottage cheese, sour cream, a couple of ceasar salad bowls, breads, grapes & strawberries, and 2 dozen organic eggs. This was all from 1 night. We go out 2 to 3 times a week to different areas.

@cynthiarafferty7662 Yes, she most certainly is grateful. So glad we can help. She gets enough canned goods, dried beans, pasta and rice from the food bank every month. What she misses is the fresh foods, ie: dairy, butter, beverages, meats, fruits, veggies and a variety of breads. We went again last night. Although, there wasn't much, there were bananas, lemons, bags of limes, tomatoes on the vine, cereal boxes, Oscar myer beef hot dogs, a box of Applewood smoked bacon packages and a box of egg white wraps. We will be bringing her some food today as well. It truly amazes me everytime we walk up to a dumpster. All sealed packages, no recalls, the use buy dates had a lot of time on it, yet they were tossed. Wasted food.

I grew up in California. Our home was built to one side of a large orchard. Fruit trees , citrus , nut trees , 3 huge fig trees. Our Avocado trees were on both sides of the house different variety. My family took great pleasure in eating from our Moyhers 1 acre garden . We traded with our neighbor's who raised/grew other things. Everyone raved about our Avocados. Avocado oil is delightful please read ingredients many ones have canola oil . Read up on canola. Mom insisted we eat only butter. Well one day I asked her the reason... canola an oleo (margarine) were feed to pigs, turkeys, and others to put weight on them quickly. I was shopped for by a friend .. on the list was 1 lb of butter . She was so pleased and i said nothing to her about it. I wont eat it but I will eat homemade sourdough bread toasted with avocado smeared all over.

I made vanilla ice cream using pampered chef vanilla. Didn't realize it was double strength. OMG! It was the bomb. Ran out of their vanilla. Saw at vendor at mkt.. Another omg moment. Bout $60 bucks a btl now. Wtf. But I eventually bought cuz so worth to me at least. What's this world coming too??

Yes icecream isn’t like it use to be, just like a lot of other foods. Check the ingredients usually it’s listed in order of ingredients first will be modified milk which really changes the icecream to fake icecream in my opinion. I’ve seen icecream first listed ingredient is sugar I stay away from the first listed modified and sugar as first listed ingredients. Also the ones with high cholesterol.
