I have loved listening to the Fureys ever since I started visiting Ireland, that is for 30 years!but seeing him now and hearing his lovely and moving lyrics brought tears to my eyes, and so did your comments ladies...there's no frontier for emotion (l'm French and writing from France)and for the sadness of seeing time flying...yes, where have all those years gone? But we are not old...we have been young for a longer time than some, thats all! Haha...And so has Finbar:)

Good evening, just crying. My wife took me to Dublin on the 5th of august for my birthday to see Mary Black. I'm confused not to remember the year (I could not even find it on Mary's concerts history). For sure, it was on a wenesday night. Later, I saw The Furey's were in concert that same week on friday night in a pub! The concert downstairs, and the pub under this floor! At the entrance, I asked to keep the Poster after the show. First surprise , they sang "the green fields of France", telling my name and my birth date! The reason is we came from France and I asked for this beautiful song, sorry for this in the restrooms, to the mandolin guy. But the biggest surprise arrived after the concert: the Poster was dédicated by the Band, and someone asked us to join in the oub for a drink! The pub was officially closed. So, we were only 10 people downstairs and someone presented us (probably you or George) a lady working for Real Estate in Paris, New York and Tokyo: she was named Miss Chaplin, yes member of mister Charlie's Chaplin family! Half an hour of emotion. Now, in 2024 (I'm 64), I still cry because it's truely THE MOST EMOTIVE MOMENT OF MY LIFE. Even if I dont believe in it, GOD BLESS You and your music! My favourite songs are "Sound of the thunder" (I play Bodhran and guitar) and "living on the edge of the town". Of course I love you !

Finbar is also the name of a mythical giant my Irish Grandfather used to tell me about. Finbar the Irish Giant and a Scottish called giant called Joc’ a Not, that “lived the other side of the pond” both argued which of them was the tallest. So, Finbar being a littlest but more cleverer than the Scottish Giant Joc ‘a Not, built up large stones on the Ocean bed and started to walk across them. The Scottish Giant thought Finbar was walking into the Ocean and he himself could not because he was too short. Finbar won the competition, and became crowned as the tallest Giant ever. Please pass this legend on, my grandchildren love it as much as I did.
