You can hear the Daryl Palumbo influence and Glassjaw vibe. The ending is prime Daryl with the high shrieks which really all comes from Mike Patton. Who Daryl loves. Great song. Love Say Hello to Sunshine but this a great balance of discord and melody in a post hardcore alt metal setting
@GreenDayDookieDemos4 жыл бұрын
Perfect description of this, all the way down to the secondhand Mike Patton influence

Finch never catered to their fan base. They wanted to get weird and creative with Say Hello to Sunshine, and I don’t think the What It Is To Burn fans cared for it. I don’t think they ever found a genre to call home. Say Hello To Sunshine was such an amazing album but who were they supposed to cater to? The hardcore scene? the emo scene? The Used a trillion years later are still a band because after their first album they decided to cater to the emo scene and they got away with it. Finch went the artistic route and they paid. It’s a shame....I loved this band in my early 20s, so much heart and raw emotion. 😢😢😢
@rooklane39252 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed both albums tho What it is to Burn is definitely the better
@littleblizzard75912 жыл бұрын
Agreed, Finch didn’t find a home. Say Hello to Sunshine is a masterpiece but most of the fans weren’t mature enough, we were still emo kids.

My god. I’m revisiting all things finch today while working. And I remember why I stopped caring about their songs. The music is great, don’t get me wrong. But the one thing that bothered me, and apparently still does😂, was the fact they went from “what it is to burn” to a straight up carbon copy of Glassjaw. The chaotic math rock sound, mixed with distorted screaming, and Daryl’s distinct melodic vibrato filled singing, is what made GLASSJAW great. Finch made a name being one of the first to blend double bass and screaming with melodic pop punk-ish sounds. They were wholly unique. Then they just became Glassjaw. Hell, even the first few seconds of this video looks like how Daryl moves in his videos. Go back and watch the video for “Cosmopolitan Blood Loss” and tell me Nate doesn’t look like he’s mimicking Daryl in this video. Again, the music is great. But I’d rather rock out to “Cosmopolitan Blood Loss” or “Tip Your Bartender” if I’m getting a Glassjaw itch. All that said, “Insomniac” and “Ink” were stellar FinchJaw songs. But I’m just some dude with an opinion. Who cares what I have to say? 😂 Edit: to be clear, I didn’t expect Finch to make another WIITB album. Change isn’t bad. Change doesn’t bother me. Again, it’s the fact they became glassjaw. THAT is all. They, as a band, Just didn’t feel unique anymore when “Say Hello To Sunshine” came out.

@MinorThunder before declaring a hiatus in 2006. Finch reformed in 2007, playing a reunion show on November 23 at the Glasshouse in Pomona, California. They released a self-titled EP a year later, and were in the process of writing their third studio album when they disbanded in late 2010.... my bad then they did reform in 07 but i was right about them finishing around 07 in 06, after that i kinda been away from music scene and stuff so didnt realise they'd reformed.
