I think someone in the 1700's, was being chased and shot at. The last musket ball, with the key chain was where the chase ended. There's probably a long decomposed body, right around there
@CarpathianCZ4 жыл бұрын
Hey MD24, this key is probably from Baroque era. Certainly not roman, as roman keys were extremely primitive and often in a form of a ring. Baroque home decorations and items tried to "imitate" roman and greek styles, but often overused decorations, such as on this key - the whole body is covered in floral or seashell motives. But it is a very beautiful piece. I mostly find iron keys from this era and they are very corroded. This is a nice specimen. It maybe looks like brass? Or is it bronze?
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
Hello Carpathian, thank you for the comment. The key seems to be made of copper. Not all Roman keys are primitive and/or shaped like a ring, as shown in this example: finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/140371# Have a great evening.

Was ein schönes Kreuz. Hi MD 24, I think all the artifacts are from about the same period. Already the findings of musket balls suggested good hunting. I don't know what area you were looking for, but if there was a military post, or a battle, (looking in books or on the net?), Why are there no coins ??? Maybe they're all in the locker and you found, just the key to it. Great search. Good luck and especially health in the new year. Czech Republic David

Hello David, I looked up this area on the internet but couldn't find anything that suggests that something like a battle took place there. I also checked some older maps, but again, there is nothing special about this place. So it will remain a mystery for now. Thank you for the comment, have a great evening & a Happy New Year!

@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
Hallo & vielen Dank.

Very nice finds once again MD24! The key is quite the mystery my friend. My thoughts are the key was meant to be seen as it is very ornate and not just functional. Perhaps worn by a priest as part of his religious rituals but the iron chain is throwing me off. I think a priest would have silver or gold chain instead of iron. Best wishes for the new year and happy digging! Dave.

In my opinion, the key is between late 1600s and mid 1800s. Possibly from a furniture/clock, rather than a door. If it was from silver, I would say that was a part of a chatelaine, but it is not, so not from a chatelaine. (I like your videos)

I'm not seeing any "thoughts" or description. Did you post it? The key looks rather more ceremonial rather than a key for a proper safety lock. Perhaps for a book lock? About 1700? Could be up to about 1850 though if it was more for decoration.

@j.borchers2664 жыл бұрын
@j.borchers2664 жыл бұрын
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
@j.borchers2664 жыл бұрын

Tell the happy hamster to tell the serious lion a funny joke to cheer him up. Musket balls with smiles. That's unusual. They must have made up a game to pass the free time to find so many of them. Great key and a cross.. with all the lead trash, would you be tempted to melt it all down and make a special hunters ring for yourself or is it not worth the effort? Great 2021 start. X
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
Hello Francesca, that's a great idea :). If the serious lion keeps acting like this, he might get sick. But on the other hand, if he takes it that serious and finds items like this, maybe he should stay like that :). I don't think melting lead especially for a ring would be healthy... I'm handling way too much lead during my hunts and later at home, when I select my finds and take pictures. I believe, the best way is to just place it in a sealed box and let it there :). Thank you so much for watching and your comment! Have a great day.
