Hello Francesca. Ha ha... The chain is long, but it still isn't representing its full potential, because many of my hunts are waiting for editing (with even more pigeon rings). There is one video where I found 10 rings, so this alone would expand the chain :). Have a great day.

Happy new year for you and your family . And , what do you use to clean your finds ? Thanks
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
Happy New Year! Unfortunately I haven't found the best method yet. The cleaning is often more an "adventure" and not something I could recommend. In this video for example I tried a (self made) "sand blaster" (with baking soda instead of sand) on both thimbles. I experiment a lot, but my results are not consistent yet. I will try to make a video on cleaning once I gain more experience. Have a great day.

@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
@Schauerland4 жыл бұрын

16:57 I think I remember some tidbit about bent coins being a "Thing" in England at one point as a remembrance token for lovers.
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for the info, I've heard something about it. Another viewer wrote in the comments that this coin came from Norway. Maybe it has a similar meaning in this country. Have a great evening.
@trondgaasland86523 жыл бұрын
@@getin3949 Hello. Nice video :-D The bent coin is a 10 øre 1981,from Norway. King Olav 5 (V). Finished from use in the mid 1990`s. A usual, and annoying coin to find here in Norway. It not usual to bent coins in Norway, but earlier they do it in England, and made Love Tokens of small silver coins.

What are all the hand signals for after each find?
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
I tag every find (older than ~1940) with a GPS receiver. The hand signals are just numbers. They help me during the editing etc. I also keep them to let my viewers know that every find in the video has the same exact order as it really happened. Cheers!

Fun hunt today. Good weather too. Was wondering, how do like that elliptical coil against your usual round one? 🤔😎✌
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
It was a "long" time ago when I tried the elliptical coil. I used a different setting with faster recovery speed back then. I also detected areas where the find were more shallow. At that time I had the feeling that the coil isn't that deep (although the round one isn't a depth demon either). Due to its geometry, the signals are "shorter". I wish this coil was not as long, then it would be more interesting for areas with greater density of finds. I would have to take the elliptical coil out again. Actually I was thinking about doing it a few days ago! Should I go out with it, I will try to edit a video as soon as possible. Have a great day.
@aumetalmental84034 жыл бұрын
@@MetalDetecting24 quite interested actually in your impressions as I really value your input as a more experienced detectorist. I do understand that soil composition, mineralization, intended search depth all affect performance.
@truffles4294 жыл бұрын
You seemed to find more relics here then and closer to the surface. Has something changed since then? Maybe the kind of areas you hunt? Or your advance research? You should get back there.
@truffles4294 жыл бұрын
Maybe you are pickier now or have different settings.
@MetalDetecting244 жыл бұрын
Well spotted! It was my old area three years ago. I moved since then. Now the finds seem unfortunately deeper, many even out of reach for my detector. But I found a bottle on the surface during my last hunt as well, so there is hope :). Have a great day.

Nice one , I have a couple of identical lead bulits but only have the stubs of lead slug's in lead form with the 3 rings around there sides which due to the shell accessories missing from said bulits suggests that they was fired by other means than with a shell butted up behind them like in your desplyed finds at the end of the video - only big question is - How on earth was they fired from a gun without the shell in the chamber butted up behind them or am I wrong in thinking that there is a different fireing method ? Meaning otherwise I was just not able to find shells with mine when I found the same bulits as yours ? Keep having fun out there , take care , & I shall appreciate any answers to me questions to mate keep up the good work.

Ouch, that doesn't sound good. I hope it healed quickly. When I moved to the South I knew nothing about some of the nasty plants and had to learn it the hard way. It is a miracle that I still have both eyes. I can't even remember how many times a branch with a sharp thorn bent and came back at full speed straight towards my eye.
