I just swatched the Meiliang paints that came today, the set of 52. 1. The colors are BEAUTIFUL! 2. You can achieve an amazing range from very saturated to very light with each color. 3. When you wet the paint (perhaps I overdid it, but I didn’t think so) they got Very Soft! Just know that. 4. Throw out the brush… it has a very pointed stiff tip which picks up too much paint and you would both use up the little pans too quickly, and it’s belly holds a lot of water which dumps all at once making painting difficult. Another brush and it would be fine paint, I think. 5. In my set, I am convinced that the dark brown and the Fired gold ochre were switched in pan position but luckily I figured it out quickly and was able to swatch correctly and then swap the pans which are difficult to take out because they have a spot of rubbery glue on the bottom, but it can be done. Overall I really like them and can’t wait to paint something with one of my da Vinci brushes which I am used to. Great, even amazing set for $20 US!!! 😊🎉😊

Thanks so much, Donna for your wonderful comments and review of those paints! I tried the brush and I thought it was okay for painting small areas, but I didn’t try it on anything very demanding so good to know how you found it. It is a good buy, isn’t it!

A year ago I made a Nature journal for my daughter who was recovering after a long period of stress and illness. My illustrations were vignette style and took secondary place to poems, epigrams wise sayings ( with a lot of he,p from Google). I was an English teacher in another life. It was as therapeutic for me as I believe it was for her. A pboto or two of her chickens led to a sketch of her girls. And so it worked. She too has come to painting for her journey back to health. Diane your videos have always inspired me. This coming winter makes me want to down the something similar but more painterly and with better materials as we go on with our journey together. Thank you as always for your inspiration in matters philosophical as well as artistic. From Australia

I just bought this set a couple weeks ago and I do like the paints very much - great price for an amateur who uses a lot of paint. I seem to have the “hot climate” pallet with the individual pans. My only problem with it is that I’m having a hard time adjusting to the small pans so close together. Even my Van Gogh paints with small square pans have more space between them. But nothing is perfect and I will enjoy using them while I follow your nature journal💕
@ArtandDiamondsWithEskies6 ай бұрын
Just a suggestion for you in order to save these out a little bit better. You could get some sticky magnets and put on the bottom of these metal pans so that they would adhere to the bottom of the pan without the plastic. That would give you the ability to space them out a little bit better.

I want you to know how much this series has inspired me. I have not started my journal yet but I have one on hand. After watching this video I've made a decision that I will start with one or two items per page - I need more practice with each element. It came to me as you did your dragonfly. You have done so many dragonflies that you have a style that even the simplest one looks beautiful. That is where I need to get to so I will begin with the flowers that are available each week - if not each day! My Irises have just opened today - just the white ones. White flowers are very difficult for me so I studied them today and took pictures and realized that often grey is the way to get white flowers to show the irises actually have a yellow tint. TOmorrow my page will be filled with white Irises! Thank you for this gift of relaxation through creativity.

I have the MeiLiang watercolors 36 Vivid Color Paint Set and love them. I love how creamy they are and that the colors are so vibrant. I can't afford to use expensive paints all the time (in the US the pan set is $20.99 and the tubes are $23.99 on Amazon) and was afraid that in order to paint I would have to compromise and I don't feel that way painting with the MeiLiang watercolors. I also like that they make the same set in tubes so that I can refill the pans. I also like that they, at least the set that I got, are advertised as non-toxic. I have a few tubes of MaimerBlu watercolors, and I love them but I found the thought of needing to be able to afford more once I ran out stopping me from painting. Thank you for doing this video. I don't have this set and was very interested to see what they looked like.

Thankfully this line of paints is made with gum arabic for an American or European formula. I have the newer 36 set and would really love to expand from there but have not been able to figure out if these are professional quality. Thank you so much for this review because you are helping me to make a final decision. I live in Phoenix Arizona and so our colors of our landscape and plants are extremely different from most places. However, I grew up on the lake in a boat with my dad going fishing and so the beauty of cool colors for water and skies have always fascinated me. Arizona has some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the world. Photographers have been fascinated by our sunset colors for decades. That's where brighter colors come in for me.

That sounds amazing. There’s nothing like a sunset - they have amazing ones regularly in Spain as well.

The best I can come up with is the one by the US art supply company - here is a link amzn.to/4aeFpz1 They seem to come in sets of two books, but they look good for the price. Otherwise I recommend Strathmore amzn.to/4b8R7g7 and Artistro for a bargain price but I haven’t tried them, Debbie Walker recommends them amzn.to/4dBwjiY

I bought a set and the numbers on the swatch card were the same as on the back of the box. Started writing the names on the card but some names were different but the same number. As a beginner, I was very frustrated. Luckily one of the ladies in our group explained it to me. Question: Do you do your swatches on watercolour paper.

In this video I did talk about that and I did a completely new swatch card with the paints in the order that suits me. That’s what I suggest you do if you feel the need to have a swatch card.

I have nothing against that as I have my own physical disability, but I can't see at all what your painting. Now there must be some way around this, maybe they could add a button to block out the printing if you don't need it, esp since this is a visual show. I'm not at all trying to be insensitive, I would just like to be able to see what your painting, that's the whole idea of the show. Maybe you could get in touch with u-tube. A very devoted fan.
