Brilliant good thing is that a single handed have enough space to winch, and it is close to the helm. No other yacht has this feature. Side deck is the best addition here, where in rough weather, sailor have a safe corridor to walk to right to the bow. I am not sure if the German system is a smart replacement, needs to be proven while sailing. Chain at the bow is too much up. It might be a good solution to be taken back down. Are these windows a fashion? They look ugly. Kill up/down, - wow. That's a feature for a production boat. I can imagine how many of the cruisers will bless this when going in shallow waters. Good luck if that fails, it has a lot of machinery in it. I cannot understand why interior is all in square mode, looks cheap of the cheapest for a comfort of 41 footer. Options to choose rooms and heads, especially for one head choice are great. This size yacht has never been more spacious, and you will find nothing more on a much larger yachts. Dream on to see this yacht in Australia for the price of 300K AUD even without the lift keel.

Thanks for the great review! Didn't like the position of the winches. Will only deliver clumsy operation. Too many ropes running around. Lacks mainsheet traveler. Anchor/sail locker is not bad for a 40 footer. I think the main design criteria was to maximize the indoor space, as the boat (deck) is quite tall. Let's hope they kept its weight center low enough. That keel is pretty interesting. Again, let's hope that it will hold-up in high seas...

just a call on the magnetic compass, it looks as if it's a secondary thought to safety obligations. (the yacht must have an independent steering compass) - from an active sailing consideration - it is too far offset for the helmsman for it to be of any use and would be prone to parallax error. curious - as the binnacle on each helm could quite happily accommodate a properly corrected and compensated compass. - Apologies some of us are pre-electronic chart plotters turning Nav into a game of following the bouncing ball.

Loved the review. The boat looked unfinished. A 10 plus year old Halberg Rassey 40 is 200k to 300k. The Jeanneau is just not the same kind of boat. I'm left wondering how many Jeanneaus are still sailing? GRP boats can last forever. How much is this boat competing with other makers new and how much is it competing with all the other old Jeanneaus and HRs and Swans of this size still on the market? Why spend the 200K for a new Jeanneau when a 2000 40 Sun Odyssey is 80K. It looks to be much the same boat. 200k will buy you a 2000 Swan.

@@wilfdarr I will not argue that the new boat is "better" than the 10 year old one. The new one has a warranty. But my question was how much is Jeanneau competing against their own older boats. 50K is 25% of the price of a new boat, but the 10 year old boat, if well maintained, has the same usable life in it as the new one. GRP don't die. How do they convince you to plop down the extra 150K? They do this by convincing you it's Apple and Oranges. I'm pretty sure it's not apples and oranges. It may be Gala Apples vs Red Delicious but they are all Apples. A Sun Odyssey and a Leader would be Apples and Oranges. I don't know what the market is and what Jeanneau's sales are like. Maybe Yachting World does.
