Same here, at first I was a little surprised and then realised, 'well 10 to 20 inclusive, that's a 1 in 11 chance, so it's bound to happen every now and again'. Similarly, another great thought (and experiment) you can try is called "the birthday paradox".

@@carneeki there is a 0.07% chance that a given kid guesses all 3 of the exact same numbers as Deane in a row lol, and they'd be thinking they're psychic and tripping balls.

There was a suburban lord mayor in Adelaide I won't say which one who was banned from the Adelaide casino. he was also a magician and extremely good with cards not sure what game he was playing but they didn't want him anywhere near the place .

Yes, but it sounds suspect when you say it - take a chance and then find a way to get them to go again- Rob

@@CuriosityShow Well, if they pick 20 as the first number, you have 4 aces to go through, and so if you say it's two plus ten for the zero, then it will still work the first time. If they do a 10 then as the last two numbers, then you need the zero to count for zero, so it's not perfect, but... well, improvise. I guess you could say the ten is a smaller number and so it should be zero for this example. Something like that. 😃

Indeed, I noticed when I learned my GF this trick but hasn't realized about 20. So she wanted to perform at her sister as training for her job, but she said 20. So take it just litterally, choose a number between 10 and 20 which excludes 10 and 20 even though 10 would also work. Just keep it literally between 10 and 20 so it always works out without getting suspicion. (My gf works with kids so that's why I tried this) For a more adult audience you can of course incorporate some false shuffles between the aces. Dunnow if that is to hard for kids. And for a question why between those numbers? Well, you want to keep it random don't want to deal more than 30 cards. That's gonna be a pain, so between 10 and 20 would be reasonable to keep it random enough. Sound like a good excuse for me.

I think I found a "loophole" for 20! Since adding 2 and 0 gives you 2, and taking 2 cards off the top when you remove 20 cards doesn't work, I tried flipping the deck over and looking at the face value of the cards. When you remove 20 cards from the deck and flip them over to see the face value side, you can observe that the four aces are placed from the 8th card from the top of the pile to the 11th. So I thought, you would want to convince whoever you're trying the trick on to come to a number between 8 and 11. I thought 11 might be the easiest, because you could make up some silly rule like "what two identical numbers added together make 2? 1 and 1. 1 and 1 next to each other is 11. Then draw 11 cards from the pile of 20, and the 11th card will be an ace. I tried this in all four positions, meaning after 0,1,2, and 3 aces had already been revealed. It worked in every position! I don't know if 8,9, or 10 cards would work when doing the number 20, but I found that 11 does!

Will 20 work?
@smadaf2 жыл бұрын
Maybe the idea is that, if the person chooses 20, you go like this: 2 + 0 = 2 20 - 2 = 18 1 + 8 = 9 18 - 9 = 9
