I don’t know if you realize just how soothing your voice is. I know you made a video saying you stopped making videos but you have great topics you’re not making role-plays for make-believe nonsense. You’re just you. And that is so refreshing. I hope you continue to make more videos because it’s very relaxing and you’re one of my favorite go to’s right now.

Females are lead to "toughening up" same but different: they should be capable of having kids, the housechores shinning, but having a job for their fullfiness, and being sexy and always, always smile. At the end of the day I believe its the same for all, control, control the perceptions of people, what you should do and what not. Good vid.

Interesting how this generation is being called weak while at the same time they're fighting every principle set by their parents at every turn. What weak person goes against everything they're told to carve their own path whilst being shamed by so many people. Doesn't sound weak to me. We're called "over emotional" but eing over emotional - is not a lack of toughness, but on the contrary its generally a result of fighting your emotions which is actually the natural state of most people. Real strength is looking at the dark sides of your past and your mind, and coming to terms with them. Even a 6ft, 250pound man who wrestles bears will have some traumas he avoids because its too scary. Integrate these and that's what will really give you power. Also toughness is generally unhealthy, it should never be a permanent state. The stress and tenseness of toughness literally physically degenerates your body, not sure how they don't know that by now.

I personally strive for a simple life with a few simple tenets. Keep my wife safe and happy, keep my aging parents comfortable, work and contribute to society, exercise consistently, never back down from any confrontation, show love and respect to other cultures/races/sexualities etc. Don't fall prey to the quicksand that is "mental health." Fight for a content life and don't measure yourself by anyone's metric other than your own.

I agree, I think a lot of times guys don't really want to relate to each other. Look at remote work in this way.. there are a lot of people who don't see a point of going back to the office and yet a lot of these bigger CEOs and executives are pushing everyone to go back to the office because they believe people are being "lazy". And now people are just deciding to leave because they realize their boss doesn't care to relate to them.

And what does “pulling through” mean? As a kid living in a terrible state of life, I didn’t “pull through” I lived. And handled the next days suffering….what was the alternative? Sit, think, and do nothing? Suicide? Depression?
@Emdooey2 жыл бұрын
You survived. You developed coping skills that may or may not have negatively impacted future relationships, but you SURVIVED. As kids, we have very little control. Things are done to us that we can’t escape and certainly can’t comprehend. Our only choices are to run away, unalive ourselves, or learn to cope. That gets confused with “toughening up” but it’s just straight up survival. You and I and everyone else who survived shitty childhoods deserve more, but as adults we enter into adult relationships carrying that baggage and those coping mechanisms because we learned them in one situation that they worked in, but don’t need them in others. We need help determining what they are, how to handle them and how to dismantle them. This is where most of the male population don’t follow through, because seeking therapy is considered “weak”. I am truly, truly sorry for what you’ve been put through as a child and I hope you are able to move forward, obtain closure, and have fulfilling relationships in the future. ♥️

Life affects us all, we’ve gotten to a point where we all want a “fix” for mental illnesses. On average, mental salience isn’t gender specific and can’t hurt. What’s the alternative, sit in a corner and cry over past trials? Drive yourself into a depression?

Oh lord. I’m sorry I disagree. I went to school for psychology…the (slight) tendency of genetics to influence you over your environment (it’s pretty close to 55/45) I agree with. You can find exceptions to the rule all day, on average people are way more mentally pliable than one would think.

I wouldn't say Joe Rogan is supporting glorification of pain. He prides himself on being able to do tough things, like consistently working out. Healthy things, even if hard, are good to force yourself to do. Like drinking some gross medicine, sometimes painful things are neccasary

Male "Toughness" generally leads to toxic masculinity which is a serious issue, at least in the States. It hurts the society especially the marginalized people. I don't believe we should be advocating for this type of conduct right now given the social and political circumstances in the world.... It is caustic. Also, who can actually say what is "natural" or not with regards to humans? Yes, our ancestors hunted for food in the past but then as we evolved and started using our brains to problem-solve, then the necessity of living as hunter-gatherers diminished , we gradually became civilized and now we live in a technologically advanced world (mostly). So, what benefit in you pov, the idea of males going back to act as "tough" or stoic could create, other than divisiveness and hostility towards the weaker members of the society?! "Natural" is something we have defined. It could be anything and not necessarily could only mean living or acting as a caveman....The eras of male chivalry and chauvinism are mostly bygone and for a GOOD reason!

I like your insights- I think Jordan Peterson walks the line best on this subject- he emphasizes how you must “become a monster”- whatever that means for any individual male or female. Because one is going to encounter lethargy, laziness, and malevolence in life. One must survive and be tough in order to consciously choose to relax and enjoy hard work. And ultimately be kind.

I like your content but I believe you are looking at this the wrong way. You keep saying "well it's not that easy" or "it's hard". Yes... making any life changing thing is extremelly hard. And saying "Well, I have ADHD or other similar issues" is a cop out. 30 years ago, these things did not exist. Younger people have simply been over protected and have not developped the skills to deal with how hard life actually is. So if you are starting from a place where you have never done something, obviously it will be more difficult than someone who has dealt with it his whole life. The way I look at it is to take it as a challenge and really focus on what I want to change. Of course some things would be impossible. Your example of saying "Well you can play in the NBA if you put your mind to it" is a great example... this requires the right genetics and training from a very young age. Those are exceptions to the norm. Saying "I can't do x or y because I have ADHD" is something that has only been a thing for like 15 years. To me it's an excuse not to make the efforts. And toxic masculinity is not a thing. It's a construct of feminists to weaken men. The army has nothing to do with what women and woke people acuse men of being. One doesn't have to be in the military or go to war to be self confident, dependable and hard working.
