Lovely bit river, looks like its one of the rivers in the USA with the scenery. Can't beat getting away from everything and being alone in the wilderness, great for the dog as well. You're right about working the river out for yourself, its how you learn and more rewarding when you catch a fish, thats one of the reasons i tie flies because theres nothing better than catching a fish on your own creation. Love your videos and hope you keep making them for years to come, thanks for taking the time to get them filmed, edited and uploaded.

Many thanks for the kind comment. I have started tying myself this year and it has really added an extra dimension to my fishing.

Excellent Rob as always, it's a lovely beat! Aside from water heights then water temperature differences will also create a barrier for fish at that time of year. If you are going to fish a 'monkey' then you need to strip and the faster the better! Thanks again for a great video. '

Haha now that's the type of invite that makes my ears stand up. One day I would love to visit BC. In the meantime though I have still a lot of rivers to discover in the UK.

@@abakerslife Pretty simple to explain, I’m retired, avid fly fisher/tyer & now disabled. My days of wading & fly fishing are over so I enjoy the sport through gentlemen such as yourself. We don’t have Atlantic salmon here where I live…

They get used to the fresh water down in the brakkish section close to the sea, the temperature in the water is mostly the limiting factor for how fast or far up they will go depnding on the river's waterlevel.

The Findhorn is my favourite river as my parents live less than a mile from it. I also caught my first ever salmon on the fly from the findhorn. I'm hoping to give the association water a go in a couple of weeks never fished it that far down before. Tight lines for the next trip.

@abakerslife10 ай бұрын
I stayed on private land at the invitation of a friend of a friend. I believe there is a motorhome stopover at Findhorn west beach which might be your best bet as it didn't seem to me that many other options are available.

Hey man, was wondering what the regulations on keeping salmon are on your home water the Coquet, I seen you mention a couple times on previous videos if the salmon was bigger you would of kept it. Is there limits on how many per season you can keep and specific time window? Just up here in Scotland it’s all conservation for salmon nowadays. Also your videos are great keep em coming🎣🐟
@abakerslife Жыл бұрын
Hi, all salmon must be returned before the 16th of June and after the 30th of September. Catch and release is encouraged and practiced by the majority of anglers. Many anglers however choose to take one salmon per year which is the approach I have decided to adopt providing that the overall run is healthy. Last year was my first year fishing for salmon and although it was the driest year on record I was surprised by the numbers of fish that ran both the Coquet and the Tyne. I feel that if I have seen plenty of fish over the course of a season with my own eyes then I will be comfortable taking a fish for the table. If the run is poor then I won't. Thanks for the encouragment.
@alexwhite883 Жыл бұрын
@@abakerslife that’s really cool you get the option to keep one. I fish the river Leven here in Scotland Mainly for brown trout but we do get a decent sea trout and salmon run. Will be my 3rd season on the river this year and hope to catch my first salmon on my local, big bucket list goal for me! I did hook a big salmon last season but was on light euro nymph gear, shot off 30 yards downstream and snapped my 4lb pound tippet, caught me by surprise and made the rest of the brown trout I caught that session feel pretty underwhelming. Tight lines mate. All the best! 🎣🎣

Fishing a Beat you don’t know without some kind of ghillie guidance is difficult. He could have shown you the best spots and just as important the tide times and when to be in the water…fished Darnaway Home beat a few times, if you catch it right can be very good - had 36 for the week back in 2012!! Tight lines..
@abakerslife Жыл бұрын
Cheers Paul, I think exploring new water and working out how to fish it is what interests me most. The fish catching is secondary. I have done some days with ghillies though and have enjoyed the experience each time and learnt a lot. Sometimes I like a day on my own to just roam with the dog. That was a fine week you must've had, I'm back up there next month to fish the association water again so hopefully might have more success. Tight lines to you.

Often wondered, I can kip in my Octavia estate and fish but I don't reckon you can drink and sleep in the back of your car cause you're then drunk in charge. Is that the case? What about motorhomes etc too?
@abakerslife Жыл бұрын
I would assume that technically speaking you would be outside of the law but i think if you were bedded down in a sleeping bag etc it would take a very pedantic police officer to bother you.

Надо поработать над забросом, у вас не разворачивается до конца петля. Это важно при подаче приманки.
