03:05 Like the method how the GPS is mounted ABOVE the TFT screen and not somewhere low on the handlebars somewhere. Greatly reduces 'heads-down' time and more eyes on the road. Almost like a slightly lowered HUD. Saw dash cam footage of how an Adventure bike rider was in a head-on crash while overtaking and clearly being 'heads down' gazing at his screen. Terrifying!!

Yeah. I don’t like things mounted low. I want to keep my head up and eyes on the road as much as possible

Is that a cup holder on the right side? If so where did you get it. Having trouble finding one that will fit.

@@schradersl I'm not sure where you're seeing a cupholder. The only thing on the right side of the bars is the master cylinder for the front brake, which I have covered with one of those brake reservoir socks.

@@schradersl Although what you're seeing is not a cupholder. Fodsports did just send me one to review last week which I just posted the other day. It's simple, secure, seems to do the job. If you want to have a proper wired in GPS cable without splicing/soldering, -Remove the Phone charger plastic from under the pillion seat -Unplug the phone charger cable -On your GPS cable (It should have 2 exposed wires), connect them to a 2 way HM connector using a crimp (Very easy to do) -Plug the new connector into where the Phone cable was -Route the GPS cable to the front -Profit! I'll make a video showing my setup because I don't know if there's one on youtube, but it's very easy and the phone charger under the seat is a joke anyway, might as well use that plug for something useful! (This plug is only powered on when the bike is on too)

Good tip. I actually thought of doing something like that. And you're right, the charger under the seat is useless and my phone barely fits in that compartment

far better to have under the seat and run the sae cable to where you need it; on the dash. @@Mudslidex1

why didn't you use the plug the GPS in front socket between the gas tank end the Triple tree at the frame ?

Because that socket is live all the time even when the bike is off. I wanted switched power. The one by the seat is switched and comes on when the bike is powered on. The one by the handlebars is live all the time and will drain your battery if you forget to unplug it

@@Mudslidex1 thank your for your answer. Its true, it all depends and what you (I) are looking for. I unplug the devise and not leave it install all the time for safety matters. Its a shame that our bikes don't come with an USB at the front socket. I'm planning to change it for a USB cigarette lighter type threated instead of the DIN type. The 2024 model now brings an USB charger instead of the DIN cigarette lighter type.. for Triumph, one step in technology...😁

One more question: In what moment the USB port under the pass seat for the Cell phone is suppose to have current? Mine doesn't have, with switch on or off....

Another great video Joe, I never thought of that idea, I've got my Satnav wired to the Battery, I know it's continually on however when I take the tomtom rider 500 iff it's cradle there is nothing to power, the idea you have fits better with due to it being switching power supply, thanks again buddy 👍

Thanks. Yeah I am also thinking of purchase a real motorcycle GPS such as the Garmin Zumo XT but wanted to figure out how I was going to wire it, so I tried this method out first which works fine. I'm not crazy about cutting or tapping into wires on a new bike, so I think this is a good alternative. Thanks for watching and commenting!! Safe travels!

Can’t we use the front power supply in the same way for the gps ?

You can, but the front one is always live. So you would have to unplug it every time you shut your bike off or risk draining the battery

I found a Hella adapter on Amazon that fits snug with our 2018 Tiger 800 XCA. Has USB-A as well as USB-C PD and an on/off switch, and you can can choose blue, green or red with the voltmeter display. So far so good although only 3-weeks of using and it works flawless with the 13 Pro Max. Haven't gone through rainy weather yet so can't testify on the durability in that regard. But it does get 4.5 rating out of 720. The on/off switch for me was the ultimate reason for getting it.

So what I want to do is connect my iPhone (for GPS) to bike so it is charging all the time. Can I do that with that front bike port?

Yes, but the front port is live all the time even when key is out. The port by the seat is switched power. I know many people use the front port with a USB socket plugged in, and even with an LED lit on the USB port it's not enough to drain the battery. I wouldn't keep it plugged in for weeks as it may eventually drain it, but for every day use it should be fine

I was concerned as well, but it's been working fine even in the rain. But I eventually will install a Thunderbox under the seat. Which reminds me.. I should order one now!!
