Mike, who lives with a rare disorder that leaves him unable to walk, grew up in a care home believing he would never find a family home.
Ann, his former teacher, realized Mike's potential and taught him to be more confident. Mike used this newfound confidence to ask Ann “Will you be my Mom?” Today the two are excited to spend their first full year as a family.

This is one of my favourite SBSK videos. Mike was so pure and strong and in this video you can feel his pain of not having a home and then the joy of getting adopted and having his own family. It can often be a challenge to watch these videos. You learn about many different people and the amazing way they handle adversity, and then find out that many of them already have passed away, leaving you feeling heartbroken and empty. I'm glad that they at least had this platform to express themselves before they died. But it is still hard sometimes to see.

I was looking at SBSK videos and found myself back here. I am so sorry for his family's loss, my heart brakes for them and that he didn't get that long with his adoptive family. He has such a great vibe, he seems so nice and so cool that I remember this video still. I am glad that he got to find a good home, his parents seem so great. Such a good interview.

He fell out of his wheelchair and died in hospital because he couldn't heal. His foster mother is now the headmistress in the hospital Michael went to. I heard her on the radio today. A wonderful woman.
