Such great marking's on this four-lined snake as you said it's an old snake!! For a snake that is missing, most of it's tail it's still a big individual cheers guys thanks again for all the good work and yes it's super important to take the snake back to it's home range because the majority of snake's that are removed from area's due to people not wanting them near their homes, usually end up dead because snakes have a home range that fills all their needs and they tend to stress so much that they can't survive im not sure where I got that information from maybe it was a snake catcher in America that shared the information on his channel because he tells his clients that more than likely this snake has lived here just as long as you have. So if it wanted to hurt you!! You would have been bitten long before you called me out here. So I tend to relocate it very close so it does not cause touch stress on the snake. A good man with a fantastic understanding of snakes I don't recall the name of the channel however he was called to remove a rattlesnake from behind someones shed as it had babies at least a dozen little snakes and the mum he got maybe eight babies on the first day then he came back and got mumma and four more.
@LivingZoology2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it had beautiful coloration considering the fact that it was very old! Sure, there are studies showing that snakes often die if you take them far away from their home range and many rescuers try to release snakes as close as possible to the place of relocation.

Found one in southern France, they look very similar. Size was also very similar, I mesured it around 115cm, I'd guess this snake here will be around 125-130cm, with tail certainly >150cm. The ladder snake was very nervous at first and tried to bite me a lot. After 5 minutes I finally could pick her up and it was a bit more calm. I'm glad I didn't get bit because I don't want an infection. And it certainly would've hurt a bit as well 😂

stunning snake. not super colourful but handsome and looks good and strong. almost like a boa of europe. nice to see an animal who is doing really well for himself. may have lost some tail but to be at that size its obviously pretty successful. one of these days i will get out into europe and spend some time looking for reptiles, and four lines are at the top of my list to find. if i could find a four lined, a montpellier and a dahls whipsnake i would be the happiest man on the continent.

Unbelievable how people feel entitled to go to other countries, walk in to the nature and do whatever they want... Kravosas (elaphe quatuorlineata) is an endangered species and -- like all snakes in Croatia btw -- legally protected. It's a crime to interact with or disturb protected species in their natural habitat but you are dragging it out of its hole by brute force and harassing it for a stupid YT video? You should be (and you probably will be next time you enter this country) prosecuted for abusing wild animals like this.
@LivingZoology2 жыл бұрын
We certainly did not want to commit any crime. Using a brute force on a snake looks different, we are always gentle and the snake was not harmed. Well, we use our stupid KZbin videos for educating people around the world about snakes. We are both zoologists and know something about snakes. But for sure we agree that we should get informed about the rules in Croatia.
