Simple and easy method, there are so many. Basically one full turn of the crank is half a turn of the cam. If I set the valves on my three wheeler at tdc I have more lash in other parts of the rotation so I’m going to try this method. If that dosnt work I’m going to degree the cam and see what the heck is going on. The method I used on my belair series is when you are coming up to tdc on the compression stroke, both valves aren’t moving for a while, even after tdc you have quite a window to set both intake and exhaust on the base circle. But with a large duration this might not be the best method. Your method is foolproof.

My hope starting the channel was to help people like me do the simple things on their cars themselves. I'm glad you got some use out of it. Good luck on your project..

FasNuf ZL1 I’ve been done with my C6z cam swap for almost 3 weeks.. I’ve had a few friends help me measure for pushrods and the lengths seem to be off (like maybe it wasn’t at base circle).

@@YELLOW08Z06 You got it resolved right?

@@YELLOW08Z06 I have a video on measuring for the pushrods too if you havent seen it

FasNuf ZL1 I’m about to start on it now.. it’s kinda hard to turn the engine over with everything in the way. I bought a starter bump button so I’ll see how good that works

Why not tighten down a pushrod abd rocker (not torqued down just tight enough to hold it on) turn it over till the valve is closed or spring is decompressed, would that not put the lifter at the base lobe of the cam?
@fasnuf Жыл бұрын
If the spring is compressed then the valve is open not closed. Also why bother putting on the rocker when you can just use a pushrod? When the valve just closes technically you are just to one side of base circle but it could measure the same. My way is 180 degrees from peak so it’s exactly base bottom. There’s more than one way to find what you need.

@@fasnuf yup that’s what I meant when springs not compressed down valves closed, but appreciate the response

The reason they don’t do it “your” way is because they don’t already have the front cover off 😉
