Another great hike and video, Alan, and sympathies about the car journey. I'm one of the stalwarts who watched to the end and felt your pain on the walk back. Your pace is a strength as we get to hear great stories! When you need to go you gota go. I really loved the views over Ennerdale which really stirred the memories for me and one of our best ever days hiking. Navigation is always a challenge and sometimes sticking to the plan is best, but detours are learning experiences and you've learnt so much. Regards, Ashley

I normally keep my videos quite short but a few people have said they prefer longer, with one lad saying "I sat down with a cup of tea to watch and it was finished before I drank me tea" , so maybe keep some of the stuff in I normally cut out, I always thought less was more but with YT, who knows. I am going to give OS Maps one more try, I have deleted all the maps I have created and recreated them again, then downloaded to the new phone to see it that was the issue. Haha, yes, all true stories as well. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Gorgeous place here Alan, shame about the wind but then it was sunny as well 🙂 Took you a while to get there so it was a shame you had to do a detour as well as a 10 mile walk! Loved the wildflowers as you walked, and a cute story of your grandson singing :) So much history around here and with amazing views, very interesting place just a shame about the bogs. Haha loved Mrs M hiding her face, we do the same 🤭 Its nice that you get to meet so many people out walking and you are always so happy to chat to them which I'm sure they appreciate. Oo buried treasure is always fun to hear about but a shame you found none, nice that you left some though, like you said, fun for the kids to find 😃 Such a long but lovely day and the sound of water as you walked down was so relaxing. Great to watch and Strava is great 👍~ Anna

Thanks very much for watching and the Strava info too, I must start using that instead of OS Maps, which is starting to let me down sadly. Looked a good day for it Alan, bar that wind. Sounded a bit ferocious. I enjoyed this walk when I did it as there were very few people around. You could never get tired of those views over Ennerdale water and it looked nice and blue on your visit. Maybe I need to do the round again to find some treasure. That walk back after Lank Rigg seems to take forever and you mentioning the river/stream crossings reminded me I had to go up stream for a better crossing at one point. No herd of cows tho on your walk so that's a win 🙂

Funny enough, I was thinking of booking Keswick Reach for 4 days as a last minute deal if the weather was forecasted good, so I could knock off a few more of the Weston Fells and its 35 minutes away from where I parked for this one - I checked. Ennerdale Water is great and been down there a few times in mixed weather but the road down it a mare, got to be the narrowest road I have ever travelled on, you can feel the grass on each side of the road brushing your car doors, it's that narrow in places, so if you go there make sure it is early.. I also once did Pillar and Steeple from Ennerdale, but the road to the Bowness Knott car park was closed so I had to park at the end of the lake. It was probably the toughest walk I've ever done in the Lake District. I ended up walking 15 miles and was exhausted for the next few days. Far better to start from Wasdale Head and head up Black Sail Pass and over Looking Stead, although that's also a hard days walk.
