I don't know if you'll ever see this but I just wanted to let you know that I am a 25y.o. automotive technology student working part time and going to school full time and I have found your videos to be incredibly helpful to me! I am very grateful for these videos and your expertise and so appreciated.

Also I don't know if you know this but the local community college that I am attending actually uses some of your videos for the automotive electrical course I am taking. In fact, I look forward to hearing your voice as I know I'll be able to follow your teaching.

Thanks for all your great videos Justin. Sad to say I don't get my scope out as much as I should. Since i discovered your channel I've got a renewed determination to do just that. I've been a tech for over forty years and my first scope was as big as a car and really only focused on ignition waveforms. Then came my Fluke 97 and it was great (still have it), then a cheap USB scope for a hundred bucks and really splurged when I bought the 4 channel Pico scope a few years ago. Just lately I bought a Micsig STO1104C which I've been using much more lately because it's a stand alone unit. i got kinda tired of dragging out the laptop and pico scope even though it's got a much deeper memory than the Micsig.

Is pico the only scope that can detect these errors or is it just a matter of settings? Great video too.

New subscriber here, this is an excellent channel! Once you've found a reoccurring issue can you cross reference the identifier with some sort of lookup table to find the control unit that is causing problems?

Thank you sir, what do you think about an automotive oscilloscope that has 10 Mz bandwidth, 40 Ms/s sample rate to analyse can bus fast canbus, and all car's sensors. It's AVL DiTEST SCOPE 8400.
@JustinMillerAutomotive4 жыл бұрын
It could work, but you would need to set your scope to a very short time base and you may only be able to capture 1-2 data frames at a time.

Hi, I've been searching the internet for hours looking for a solution. I have a problem with the cambus. Steering wheel controls don't work, and when I turn the key the radio won't turn on. gives me error (U2101-00 canbus maximum configuration list not programmed). I tried unplugging the battery for 1 hour but the problem is still there. I was wondering if you had any idea what this error is and possibly how to fix it. I hope you answer me since the video is years old. I thank you in advance.

It is really hard to diagnose the car remotely. I can only guess. What type of car is it?

@@JustinMillerAutomotive I went to my mechanic. he told me that it should be the fault of the display that gives the radio information. now i am waiting for the replacement display. 🤞 thank you so much for your reply

Somebody built a website that decodes and analyses CAN messages for free. Haven't tried it yet because I don't have CAN to USB, but ordered one from Amazon to test. Sounds very promising to me. The website is CAN2SKY.com Maybe try it and compare to the Pico scope software.
