If you want to save the world, think about making connections.
Answers are found by “connecting the dots,” they say. So what are we connecting?
To get a child interested in saving the planet, connect them to nature. Take them swimming, hiking, or sign them up for summer camp. To gain an understanding of systemic racism, have a coffee with a friend from a minority community. To aid someone that struggles with sobriety, addiction, or mental health issues, help them make connections with others. Volunteer. Step outside your comfort zone or community.
As you travel through this wonderful world, make an effort to meet new people. Expose yourself to new ideas, cultures, and connections. You will learn that even in the face of differences, it is impossible to hate in person. Make connections.

This week, I made some new connections, joining a panel of women for an event called “Speaking up for Water.” The event was organized by a new charitable organization whose goal is to motivate and inspire young women (inclusive of all identities) to enjoy and protect freshwaters and the outdoors.
