It has thrown me back 30 years ago during the Bosnian war, when my family and I were refugees in one village far from civilization (and everyday artillery shelling). And a day when me and my 10 yo sister were wandering into the same unknown places, in the vastness of the centuries old chestnut and beech forests and green oases in between, looking for mushrooms and wild strawberries... While it was incredible fun for us, kids from the city, unaware of things happening around us, little did we understood that it actually meant genuine survival for yet another day because there was no food available since our territory was surrounded by the enemy forces.
