About National Geographic:
National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Through their world-class scientists, photographers, journalists, and filmmakers, Nat Geo gets you closer to the stories that matter and past the edge of what's possible.
“It’s part of mankind to want to explore.”
Explorers are often seen as pioneers, but National Geographic Explorer and Rolex Laureate Johan Reinhard is a pioneer in the field of exploration itself. He was a forerunner in the study of high-altitude archaeology, the research of sites at 17,000 feet and above. Focusing on ancient peoples and their cultures, Reinhard’s trips regularly take him up mountains, underwater, and deep into jungles. On expeditions to the Andes Mountains in Peru, he’s found Inca artifacts that are so well-preserved, they look brand new. He and his team also discovered something in the 1990s that you don’t find out in the field just any old day: frozen Inca mummies. The mummies, left as human sacrifices some 500 years ago, were almost perfectly preserved. His venture has since led to more than a dozen frozen Inca human sacrifices found across five mountains in the Andes! Reinhard’s exploration and discovery of the Inca artifacts was a first, as the sites had been virtually inaccessible before then due to the high altitudes.
You might call Reinhard an “explorer’s explorer” - he isn’t just going out and studying places that other explorers have already covered. As a high-altitude archaeologist, Reinhard sets his sights on new, uncharted territory and discovers historical treasures for the very first time.

The way he pulled her out like she ISNT a freaking dead frozen human and it gave “its a big rock” vibes instead of “it’s a freaking mummy”

I uave read this article on National Geographic magazine early y2k and the boy with her was her younger brother who carries his slingshot with him because he believes life after death. The author also said that the relatives of these children could be possibly known thru dna for their teeth are still intact.

Didn't mention the truth about how those people who became mummies. Hard to feel moved by a well edited video knowing the true savagery behind radicalized beliefs.

Deathstroke the Terminator Sacrifices based on radicalized beliefs where ignorance led to the torture and death of these children. I just have a hard time being moved by this video knowing the truth they have uncovered.

@@lunchen69 With that logic you could never be moved or interested in anything in human history. It almost always rested on savagery and death....

500 years ago, these children were chosen to keep a good harvest or to appease the Gods. People from their time knew nothing about mercy. It's their way of life and you can't fault them for not knowing science.
